As per title, I am getting more interested in Macro photography, should I buy a Tamron 90 or Raynox DCR-250 to use with my current lenses?

If I get the Raynox where is the best place to buy? and can it be used on any lens? or what is the most ideal lens?

Thanks for your help and opinions

Lee.

I have the Raynox and it works well for the money. It'll fit on a lens with filter threads between 52mm and 67mm in size. It works best above about 100mm, and I get 1:1 at about 100mm. The Tamron 90 got good write ups in one of the magazines recently that was comparing macro lenses. If you want to get a feel then the Raynox is a good way to get going, and is much cheaper than a dedicated macro lens.

Here's a couple using my 55-250 and Raynox

I got my Raynox from Ebay (A seller in Poland).

personal I prefer macro lenses, I like the working distance and find them easier to use. However you can get real close with the raynox.

With a 55mm macro

Thanks for your response, your pics look good, I have just found the Raynox on Amazon for £44, anyone know anywhere cheaper?

I might go for the Raynox to see how I get on and then upgrade to the Tamron in future.

Thanks

Lee.
