Got diagnosed this morning with SWINE FLU!, not really, really ill, but sore throat, feel as though i have been playing against the england rugby squad, nasty headache, so had to send my dear old mother in law for my tamiflu tablets. i even went to work this morning and the big boss said "HOME NOW !!".never mind, eh, worse things happen at sea.

 sorry to hear that, hope you recover soon

Did you get infected from a phone?

Twelve days since I got it, and still have a cough.

 you ******* idiot, I can't imagine anyone being that irresponsible. How many of your co-workers have you put at risk? Especially those that fall in to a vulnerable group or live with someone who falls in a vulnerable group e.g. pregnant, have asthma?

If I had anyone working for me I'd have made it an act of Gross Misconduct to come it work having been diagnosed with Swine Flu and I would have sacked you on the spot.

Get well soon - numpty

May be, but it really irritates me when people "struggle in" to work when they are ill to show how devoted they are and promptly make the rest of the office ill. Imagine how frustrating it is when the current round of illness has a higher than normal probability of causing death, especially of those who have underlying medical problems.

I really do wish the OP well and hope they get better, but at the same time I hope that their time in bed gives their brains some time to grow and they find some consideration for others under their pillow.

not even going to rise to it. oh and just for your information, not that i have to explain myself to an idiot like you, we were in the car park discussing it, not in a confined area, and at that time i did not know what it was, so next time before you open that big mouth of yours try and collate all the facts first.

Hope you get well soon friend, but you got to admit going to work even on the carpark was a tad irresponsible:(

just got home from work, came home early after feeling weak all day and not being able to do much. :(

he had underlying health problems though, like pretty much everyone who has died from it.
What underlying heath problems thats all they keep saying when someone dies but they dont tell you what, i would have thought a soldier would be pretty fit wouldnt you

ray, you are correct, but obviously had i known it was anything like this i would have stayed at home, not ventured out anywhere, but i did not feel really ill and been to work numerous times over the years "under the weather".

It kills some people, just like normal seasonal flu, and a myriad other normally minor ailments.

My girlfriend's just about over it after 10 days. Doesn't look much fun, her temp was 40.5C at one point. I've somehow managed to avoid it despite sharing a bed with her the whole time she's been coughing her lungs up. I can only assume that the nasty cold I had a couple months back was swine flu and I just brushed it off easier.

I really think your statement is a bit harsh ,he was not feeling well when he went in (didn't know till he got home)that he had the flu and as for saying they go in showing their devotion, well you want to work for some companies I know... you have to go in to show them your ill or you may be penalised.

I agree, it was a bit harsh and OTT, and as it turns out...undeserved.
However....the OP's post did read like he was diagnosed with swine flu then went in work.

So how about we all smile, these two shake hands, have a drink and we all move on :)

They'd be safer waving from a distance. Hand to hand contact, and all that . . .

Keep your fluid levels up, OP.

He wasnt a soldier.. At least not a full time one. The sun has been on a mission to make everyone 'feel sorry for a soldier' for a while now (not that there is anything wrong with that of course), but if you read it he was a Territorial Army Volunteer. Which is hardly the same thing.

I think there's something wrong with the Sun going on that mission. Remember not so long back to when they ran stories claiming British soldiers were monsters and prisoner abusers...I'm afraid I don't believe the Sun is being sincer, and they'll change their tune soon enough when it can sell them more papers.

:agree:

My entire family boycotted the Sun :) (I'm in the Army)

Whey I'm better today, feel freash as a daisy (kinda) and I'm off back to work.

Get better soon "numpty"
