I'm gone!

Jesus, that sounds terrible. I've only just found this thread and I hope everything works out for you and you're not in too much pain.

best wishes for a speedy recovery.

The numbness in your face could just be nerve damage - I had an op about 6 weeks ago and suffered the same thing - was told it could take up to a year for the nerves to heal completely. Bloody painful as well after a few weeks... glad the op was a success though.

I got 'attacked' about 6-7 months ago
Really?, you surprise me!;)
[lookout - trapper alert - trapper alert :bonk:]

On a more congenial note - we have a comparatively, technically brilliant Nhs these days, so no doubt you'll be on your feet in no time, and a success story whilst in the Maxillofacial ward.

Sounds aweful mate, Hope everything goes well and have a speedy recovery, we'll be thinking of you, hope the police caught the scumbags, yhat did it to you, and they get what they deserve

I had a thread looking for sympathy when I had a tooth implant which for some reason the anaesthetic failed to work, the replies were very sympathetic but for what you must be going through makes what I went through pale into insignificance .

I wish you all the best for a satisfactory outcome.

Can we get you a bigger spoon, the one you have been using seems to be worn out?

can we leave the personal vendetta out of the thread please guys, Trapper501 and Merovingian should perhaps hire inflatable sumo suits and have it for a couple of hours somewhere away from the forums..

Luke, hope it all goes well. Before and after pictures would be great

Just realize I've posted after you replied, must read to end of the thread next time lol.

I'm still suffering from nerve damage from my surgery I had 6 months ago, true it was my face however I never notice the large numb patch I have on my side untill I hit it off of something expecting it to hurt but I don't feel it.

All the best

Amen to that. But do note I'm merely defending my position[as any self respecting member would]. I have no interest in being party to other member's vendettas.
The suits however are a good idea; some members definitely need to lighten up!

I've broken my arm 3 times, as well as ruptured my liver in a bike accident so I'm numb all down my arm and right across my stomach. I'm numb on my face too, but the only bit that bothers me is my nose. If it runs, I can't feel it what-so-ever until it drips which is very annoying. :shake:

bloody hell you should take some time out to recuperate, professional bare knuckle boxing would be a lot less damaging :O

Hmmm. Before they let me out, the doctor said in a firm voice: "DO NOT BLOW YOUR NOSE."

It never really ticked why. I was guessing 'cus it may move the metal or something.

Anyway, you know how you sort of close your mouth and breath out to blow your cheeks up? Mine won't do that. Air just bubbles out of somewhere, I'm guessing straight through my eye socket... and then it hit me. He told me not to blow my nose as it'd literally blow my eyeball out of its socket. Gah.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. You can read my "Need Sympathy" thread to cheer you up.

Best not to try blow air into your cheeks then ;)

Here's wishing you a speedy and successful recovery!

What happens if you sneeze? You won't shoot someone will you?

Good luck with the recovery though :)

Good luck with the recovery!

Let's hope the feeling comes back quickly because it sounds like there's enough of you that's numb as it is!

On a lighter note, with your eye being moved back to it's proper place you're less likely to be mistaken for Nick Griffin!

Luke, you`ll need someone following you around with a net, just incase you sneeze....

All the best with the recovery mate.

Thinking about it, couldn`t they have modified it like one of the cup and ball games.

You know, the ones with the elastic on the ball....

Cheers for the comments guys.

I woke up yesterday feeling quite well. Surprisingly well, and wanted to go home almost instantly... They wanted to keep me in over night and then the pain started to get worse and worse. My face looks like a hamster at the moment -- it's so swollen on one side. Half of my face is completely numb (including half of my nose and my top lip). They said this may well be permanent which would be awful, I can't even begin to explain how bad that feels.

Anyway, the eye is in the right place now but I can't really tell how good the job was as my face is so swollen. I'm due plastic surgery now to make everything a bit prettier but I've excepted I'll never look normal again.

Strangely enough I can empathise with exactly what you're going through (football injury), I had something very similar and I've got plates around my eye socket, cheekbone and jaw.

The numbness will disappear eventually, mine did, but not totally and it's long term. I've still got a bit on top of my head from where they took the bone grafts which I can't feel and that's now about 10 years.

Seriously get pics, I didn't and wish I had now :D

I'm over the worse. You shudda seen it when it first happened. They thought the eyeball had been removed, but found it deep down in my cheek when I went into surgery. My face was so, so swollen -- I can't even describe how big it was. It was like a football attached to the side of my face.

Pleased you are on the mend. I can only imagine what you are going through. The air thing I can understand as I had a ruptured synus one time. and boy that was painful. Good luck and keep us posted.

Haha, bokeh y0!

Just seen this thread - awful injury to get mate, hope you will get to feeling better very quickly
