I entered a picture in a competition that I read about in Amateur Photographer a few months ago, and had an email recently to say I've won!

It's organised by a charity, Muntada Aid, and the prize is a trip to one of their overseas projects.

The picture I entered was taken with my Bessa III on XP2, not cropped or edited, just a straight scan by UK Film Lab.

Well chuffed to have won, just wanted to share.

Very well done Andy, an image that many can connect with and feel it powerful emotional content, great shot.

I remember you posting this shot a while ago and I thought it was an excellent piece of work, in fact the ehole series was stunning.
Well done Andy, thoroughly deserved snd wonderful to see a film shot winning a prestigious competition.

Congratulations that is certainly a very nice award for your photo and the work you put into getting it :)

great result -- if you do not enter you cannot WIN ! ( Well I did NOT enter as I had nothing on that theme but I do try )

Congratulations Andy, cracking shot and I look forward to seeing the results of your trip.

Fantastic image, you've really captured the emotion, of the moment. Well done

Well done Andy, well deserved. I really liked your original set because of the way it conveyed the emotion so it's been well acknowledged.

What a moving photo indeed, Belarus caught my eye there. For years church members from Rochdale have been knitting garments for children in this country for an orphanige, I started doing knee blankets for them. This has been going for years and the thanks is always recieved from the orphanige. Your photo shows how llittle the people of Belarus have but the caring with their own people is first and foremost. The black and white makes it all the more moving. Some people would say I don't like it because its too sad but its life, its true to life. Congratulations, well deserved.

This is a very good and well shot photograph, but,I must say it is very poignant to me as my Mum went this way and it was of course very sad.

I am a little confused as to whether this type of photograph really does any good as a competition shot.

My view is that if we know this type of care is happening or not, then maybe we should give to make the situation better.

I understand that in other countries this is happening all the time, but, also in this country,so should we prioritise in a different way.

That,s what I feel.
