Ilford 2000RT Fixer

Anyone here know owt about this fixer? I purchased a 5l keg from Silverprint the other week thinking it would work out cheaper than Ilford Rapid fixer thne when it turned up I noticed it said Fixer/Replenisher on the label. I then dug out a brochure I picked up at the Ilford stand at Focus on Imaging and it says:

"is a liquid concentrate for use in ILFORD 2000 series and other roller transport processors"

As I've no idea what an ILFORD 2000 roller processor is I'm assuming I've ****ed it and this stuff is no good for small hand processing or for fixing prints?:shrug:

Anyone got any advice if I can use it or not? If it's no good for me is it any good for you? If so I'll stick it in the forsale section for a good price.

I think that the fixer is desigend to simple replenish the stuff that is in the machine. In other words you do not have to empty all the fixer out to get fresh stuff in. But not 100% sure on that.

Why not drop Silverprint or Ilford a line and ask them if it can be used not in a machine?

Cheers Nick, I'll drop Silverprint an email this morning. I only discovered this all last night so thought I'd see if anyone else might know outside of opening hours.

It's a more concentrated version of normal fixer, it will fix a print in about 10 seconds, perfectly OK for dish use.
If you want to check the fixing time, expose a piece of paper to daylight until it goes pink and then dip part of it in the solution and see how long it takes to clear, then double the time for safety, it's very difficult to over fix something.

p.s it's OK for films too.
