Get a Jessops trade account opened! ;) :D
I'm glad that I did.

Kev.

:D my avitar gives a clue. :D
A great saving on a new unreleased body.

Kev.

"Unreleased"?? Can't see from the avatar, too small for these eyes!

Well, launched, but not in the shops yet. With trade discount, a D4 body for £4212. A spare battery for £99.99 Quite a saving.

Kev.

Yep that is a saving, when do you get your hands on it?

Hopefully 15th March. Nikon have given Jessops that date as a definite. We'll see.
I hear rumours of delays.

Kev.

We'll all be waiting for the pics/review remember :D

I enjoyed having a look at it today and listening to one of the talks at the Nikon stand about it.
Some interesting things.Amongst others, I like the idea of using my 300mm or a 400mm with 2 x converter and being able to shoot at f8 and still have all focus points active.
That alone could save me £7k on a 600mm. And a bad back carrying it. :D

Kev.

The price I quoted is the total price I paid. Not + vat.

Kev.

Is there a set amount of discount you get over the average joe because I can go into jessops buy something get a VAT receipt and claim back the VAT I don't need a business account to do this but if you get an extra 10% off as well that would be worth the hassle of setting up the account.

Morgan, They punched in my account number and came up with the price. I think companies that aren't registered for VAT get the same price. I don't recall it saying only vat registered companies can apply.
The figures don't even work out as nett of vat if you add the retail price of the body and battery together. Body: £4799.95 + battery: £129.95 = £4929.90 inc vat £4108.25 nett of vat.
I paid £4314.42
I also phoned for a quote on a Canon 5D MKIII for member from here at the show and was quoted £200 less than retail price.
It doesn't seem to be anything to do with being vat free.

Kev.

This is odd. I have a vat registered business. registered for a business account, got the account authorised, logged in to Jessops Business but the prices shown are just the normal retail prices Ex-VAT.

A 7d Body for example is listed at £966.63 EX VAT which spookily enough is £1159.95 inc VAT which is the retail price on the normal joe public site.

How did you get the discount ? was it something the applied to the order when you rang them ?

I was told that you had to be in store. It's the first time that I have used it. I also don't understand how they get to the figure that I paid. Jamie Palmer on here is a manager at one of their stores. I will ask him.

Kev.

I've spoken to Jamie and he says that the paid figure includes vat. So, according to him, if you are vat registered and it's a legitimate company asset, you can also claim the vat back.

Kev.

The VAT can be reclaimed regardless.

Are we sure this is not just prices being quoted ex-vat for business customers which is the norm?
No reason to quote a vat registered company a vat inclusive price as this is not the "price" they pay.

As I said, the figure I paid doesn't calculate to the nett of vat figure. Also a store manager has confirmed that.

If someone could show me how this:

equates to the nett value of a D4 body and battery
please.

Kev.

I've just registered on their website.

I'm after a Canon 1.8 50mm lens so hopefully I'll get a killer deal on that, even if it does cost under £100 anyway. :D

I think there is something missing from this.

What exactly did you do to get the 'trade' account ?

Can you please explain the process you went through, so those of us with businesses can benefit from it.

I take it there is something more to do other than just registering on the Jessops Business Website.

Yes there is. You have to fill in an application form, which was emailed to me. They do a credit check on you if you want 30days credit. I didn't need that.
It usually takes afew days for the account be be confirmed. But I explained that I wanted to buy the D4 after I had been to Focus. It was done very quickly in my case.
