If you want to improve your B/W shots

I'm not going to comment on the contrast or tones of the final image, as I'm using my tablet and what I'm seeing may well be distorted. What I did see were what Barry Thornton (since it was his developer) referred to as "the spikes of doom" in the histogram.

The main point must be though as Terry said above, that in the 19 years since that was written software has changed, and to a lesser extent scanners.
 
Oh well ...as the site is still active thought this guy had something worth trying, well he seemed happy erm once upon a time. o_O
 
It’s quite amazing just how much software has moved on - AI masking and selections were a real game changer for me - save so much time - you can see how complicated that edit was for something that these days you could in just few clicks.
