I have £215 in Tesco vouchers that I need to spend before some start expiring (they won't renew after 2 years).

I can get 2x in Jessops so £430......however not much is appealing, I buy most stuff used.

This is a 2 parter.....

1) What item would you buy from there purely to then sell on?

2) Or given Problem is I shoot everything and anything! Outdoor portrait stuff, pics at friends weddings, indoor corporate do’s, motorsport, Rugby, City breaks – you name it! I just love taking photos so it’s all good to me, what would you buy based on my current kit bag....

Current kit…

Canon 40D
Canon 50mm – 1.8
Canon 17-55 IS 2.8
Canon 70-200mm F4 non-IS
Sigma 10-20mm 4-5.6
Canon 430EX flash

Have tripods/memory cards, filters, bag etc.

Slightly off on a tangent here, but Wild Arena take tesco vouchers, so you could splash out on something that you wouldn`t normally do

Also slighty OT, but we just had £40 of clubcard vouchers renewed as they had just expired. We were saving them towards a holiday, but hadn't got it sorted. Quick call to Customer Services and be very nice to them and they renewed them for us for another 2 years

Swap them for vouchers from the jewellery store (can't remember which one) which gives 4x the value - buy a fancy watch, sell it.

If you don't need anything don't buy anything!

How much is a Fuji X10 at Jessops? £499, just looked. Think I'd be paying the extra.

Of that list I'd be seeing the 430EX as the weakest area and would upgrade to a 580EX II, but then the lack of 180 degree right rotation on the 430EX II annoys me greatly.

f1.4 wide angle?

What lens would that be?

Can't think of any f/1.4 wide angle? Only the EF 24mm which even on FF isn't that wide.

And F/1.4 on a wide angle wouldn't be that useful!

northern lights, church, or wedding madness in the dark - I agree, it is not the average, typical everyday use for most people

The problem is, it is more like £1 430 at the moment

How about 100mm macro - would fit the bill perfectly
85mm f/1.8
studio lights

The 85mm f/1.8 is a good call, love mine.

Or, How about converting the vouchers into air miles and taking some of your existing kit on a nice trip?

Its fairly wide... Equiv to 15mm on crop? Sure its not going to give you mad perspective, but its still a wide angle.

Just stock up a years worth of alcohol.

And fill your garage with petrol.

Spend the vouchers on a Sigma 50mm f1.4 plus some memory cards.

Sell your nifty fifty and the cards on here and blow the profits at Tesco to get some more vouchers and....

You could just transfer them to jessops vouchers and then sell them, someone will inevitably have them. I often see the vouchers go for near face value on evilbay.

Thought about selling or buying to sell? I'm in the market for a new lens so you could get some cash value out of them :D

To answer the replies....

I tried to renew and she said they don't after 2 years, will try again.

Great idea about the Jewllers then selling it on.

I hardly use my 430EX to be honest and it works fine for me when I do.

Not looked too much into airmiles, it doesnt seem that great a deal when you have to pay
taxes etc on top (I think) and if you shop around with your flights you can usually get
them cheap anyway.

I think vouchers have your name & postcode on them so not ideal to resell?

What about something in the 24-70 range? The Tamron maybe? Dunno, couldnt be bothered to check the price, just thought you might get a nice walk-about lens?

Or, buy something with the potential to sell on again here? And brand new lens for £50 under retail value, I'm sure people would snatch your hand off, and you will also get cash then for your vouchers at a higher level then you would if you spent them in store at face value

or a macro lens? They have the Canon EF 100mm F2.8 Macro USM for £429.95, so you're 5p under your limit!

Or they have the Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP DI Macro 1:1 (Canon AF) at £354.95 so you'd have another £95 to go.

Get a smaller camera, a MFT or a top end compact for those times when you don't want a DSLR.

I don't need a compact, I always take my SLR to anywhere interesting, and if not I've got my phones with ok cameras on them.

I think I may trade the Vouchers for Goldsmith vouchers, then buy a Tag F1 for £860, I would hopefully be able to sell that for £500+ as it would be brand new with receipt, box, original stickers etc and paperwork. £500 can then go into the camera fund, I think a 5D mkII is calling.
