Yep, that slogan is right up there with the one for the pancreatic cancer campaign a while ago showing a woman, with the slogan “I wish I’d had breast cancer”.
 
Just as nauseous as all the d******ds who post crap about sharing this and sharing that on facebook about cancer, poorly kids and all that s***e, get a real life.

I don't think the advert was actually trying to make that claim... it's just very poorly worded. Basically, it's a really bad ad.

The reaction from the guy in the advert is rather counterproductive as well;
"We are shocked that anyone can think that an advert, let alone one that supports and helps people with MND, would suggest you deserve a terminal illness for not doing a viral fad and it says more about them.”
 
I don't like that poster at all. If anything isn't it false advertising?

Whilst you cant blame charities for wanting to get more money, I find it very off putting how some behave. Especially those charities that employ chuggers who all seem to remind me of wideboy salesmen. To me it is very offputting and has absolutely the adverse effect.
 
I dont actually give anything to any charities anymore because of the dubious tactics they employ, not content with rattling buckets in my face at the Supermarket entrance asking for spare cash of which i never carry any, when told this they them summon a "collegue" stood nearby and begin to tell me this "collegue" has a card reader and also a paypal card reader with a £3 minimum donation, to which i then tell them to pee off.

Also had numerous words with the idiots who drop bags through my letterbox with alarming frequency even though i have a large sticker on the door politly asking for NO Charity bags or junk mail, when confronted they say "but were a charity" so thought it was OK, what do they not understand about NO CHARITY BAGS, if some are dropped through while im out i tape them to the outside of the door with a sticker across the front saying NO CHARITY BAGS AT THIS ADDRESS, ARE YOU BLIND
 
Don't give to charities as such,what I do is when I buy something for £x.99 (and what doesn't ) the odd 1p goes in the charity box at the till,not much I know but over the many years I've done this it probably adds up to quite a few quid.

The odd penny at checkout gets deposited because I don't need a purse full off copper coin.

People at supermarket entrances who rattle or ask are informed that rattling and asking are actually illegal now. (Help For Heroes have never done either and usually get a quid or two for their trouble).

Chuggers get walked past.

Charity bags in the post box (letter box is riveted closed) get used as rubbish bags.

Cds...dvds...videos etc. have been donated to charity shops purely because I'd rather they went there than the tip.

The only major charity donation was when my mum died. We asked for donations instead of flowers.
Once the cash was in we asked the hospice (mcmillan) what equipment they needed, then bought the hardware for them....cutting out the admin portion)

Worked a treat.
 
I dont trust charities or that there are that many charities acting legally, is it just a coincidence that all these charity bags from previously unheard local/international charities started to appear at the same time as all these "clothes for cash" weigh in shops started appearing, some unscrupulous gits are passing themselves off as charities, posting bags for unwanted clothes then weighing them in at the cash for clothes shops.

I remember once being interupted whilst in conversation in the Tesco foyer by a childrens charity, would sir like to donate to (insert childrens charity) i replied, of course and left my 10 then year old child with her

If folk would only take a closer look at these `charity` bags (details on the rear, sometimes in small print ) you'll find many are clothes for cash businesses that just make a small donation.
The majority round our area are Eastern European collectors. They p!ss me off & just get used as bin-liners.
 
Luckily those have stopped in our area. The ones that get angry when you don't return their property were especially funny. I gladly dealt with them.

We actually donate and do work a lot for a few charities. However they are our choice and we deal direct. I really do nit need them in my way everytime I go out.

Train stations are getting worse. I just want to catch my train, not dodge chuggers, free news papers, and eateries flyer distributors.

Luckily I'm driving in today.

Never had any of those, thats just naughty as of course nothing would ever see a charity, the ones we get locally usually have an unknown charity on the back with a registered charity number but when you check the charity either doesnt exist or is a genuine charity with zero connection to the one on the bag
 
We get those too. Last one was a Lithuanian charity. :rolleyes:
 
Charity and donations, they all mean well. But the way they are run and the percentage of money doesn't go towards the cause is the reason I don't donate.

The only donation I make since I started getting income is £50 to wikipedia every year. Money goes straight to wiki foundation to help preserve the modern encyclopedia.


Speaking of door stickers, is there a "I don't do door step donations." sticker off-the-shelf? I can't find one anywhere.
 
So we're saying Pamela Anderson is definitely going to die?

I have a low opinion of most large "medical" charities but that's pretty much a new low.
