Yesterday I was in Oxford for a few hours taking pics, with great difficulty I might add with 2 dogs tugging at their leads :bonk:. I think have realised that I like doing candid shots, there were some real characters there, young and old that I would have liked to have taken a shot of but I stopped short of pointing the lens at them.
If only I had the confidence, bravery, or what would it take for me to capture the shots I would have liked to post on here.

You need to get out with someone that does have the lack of inhibition, its what I did [thanks adam and tris] and I am much better now, although still a bit tentative. A longer lens so you can be more discreet might help, or alternatively a wide angle, so they dont think you are even pointing the camera at them from 6 feet away :D

Its just practice Galaxy, you will get better at it and I saw the pics you did post and they were great efforts, so you aint that bad at it

Thanks for that advice LadyLens, and to think I had my 70-300 IS in my bag :bonk: also I never thought of using a wide angle, that was also in my bag, a Sigma 10-22:bonk:
You learn something new every day:thumbs:

well some street togs consider it cheating, but I generally prefer candids to be that, candid, which doesnt happen if the person knows you are taking their pic. So whilst its good to be able to have the 'front' to ask a person, its just as valid to get more discreet shots that really do capture a persons expression and actions at that moment in time.

And here's a cheeky candid I shot earlier this week!!!
