OK out of all my power tools and electrical gadgets - One thing just seems to hang in their and never fail to deliver what it did on the first day of purchase and for the last 9 years and its been hammered and abused and used....

My Trusty HENRY Vacuum cleaner and if it packed in today I would not hesitate to replace with another of the same...Not that I dont have other items that are great - this though just stands out to be a great machine I cant seem to kill...

Anyone have anything else to add?

Mine broke, so I got a new switch for a measly amount (£3 or so) and fixed it. That was about 15 years ago and it is still going fine, and has survived huge amounts of work clearing up building rubbish as well as keeping the house clean.
A new filter a couple of years ago was worth the expense, but rather like you my Henry is the one constant of all my tools. Fantastic things.

White knight gas tumble dryer. When the first one packed in after 10 years I got another that's up to 19 years now.

Cheaper to run, more efficient a fantastic design.

Dad had a Henry as his workshop vacuum for many years and used to plug it in to quite a few dust extraction thingies on table saws, routers etc.. When we needed a vacuum for my wife's business, a quick trip to Makro saw us with one for there. Soon afterwards, a failure of our upright saw us getting another Henry since I's put laminate flooring in throughout the downstairs but had carpet upstairs - Henry deals very well with both. The business's one is coming up for 3 years old and deals with a lot of carpet 3-4 times per week and the home one is just coming up to 1 year old. Could be tempted by the wet/dry version for home next time although chances are that it won't be for several years!

Never had a Henry, did have a Harry Lawnmower though but it didn't like wet grass any more than I do...

Talking about things I would buy again if it broke, my Makita cordless drill. I 'built' a 10x6 shed last week with it on one battery and it just impresses me every time I use it.

Yeah...Great accounts so far of good old Henry.....They really are a work horse of a Vac.....and ours has seen over 400 bags - I buy in bulk now as they are so cheap. Get the fabric bags not the paper ones the suction is SO much better:lol:

i bought a henry vac from a car boot sale in cardiff for £15.00 the guy said it was 2 years old i have had it 12 years now and it just keeps on going

great vac:thumbs:

My old industrial grade Hoover :) made by Victors the serial on it tells me it's a 1989 machine and it still goes strong to this day :) we did buy a lot of them for the old family business though ;)

Another praise for the Numatic machines. My ex had a Hetty which is still going strong.
There's Henry, Hetty, Harry, James, Charles & George now.

2 disappointing Dysons led us to get a much cheaper Henry, that was 6 years ago and it gets used alot both for cleaning and attatching to my power tools. always been faultless and should the day come where it fails I will not hesitate to get it repaired/replaced with another.

I wanted to get a Henry when our Hoover upright prematurely died. Unfortunately my wife thinks they're unattractive and doesn't like vacuums which you have to drag :(

There's an attractive vacuum cleaner? Just buy her a Henry for commercialmas and if she wants a Dyson, let her buy one for herself!

Is it a Victor "dominator" per chance? Saw one of these on an Urbex a few years ago and knew it meant business.

My oxo good grips peeler. This thing will peel anything.

I don't think so to be honest I was four when the company brought the one we have, when I took over procurement a couple of years before the company was sold so I have no idea of the machine names back then

I have no idea what a vacuum cleaner is:shrug:

Not this bad boy then (a dominator II... with Mr Steam apparently!)

Other way round in this household, but guess who gets the casting vote...

Used to have a Henry, it now lives in the race truck to suck out gravel when a driver cocks up and throws it into a gravel trap. Now got a Dyson which does a better job of pet hair, but still a cylinder one rather than an upright.
