I'm having a problem with my new 1DMkIII body. Its driving me nuts. I thought it was me being a dummy, but I can use Av and Tv but can only set the SS in M mode. Aperture stubbornly refuses to be set using the big round wheel!

I've disabled live view (which was already set up to use the 'set' button) but that doesn't seem to make any difference.

I am also finding that the ISO stubbornly refuses to be moved from 200 - 3200 despite going into the custom functions.

What am I doing wrong??
 
Ok. By fiddling discovered that in M mode you set the SS with the wheel on top and the aperture with the +\_ button. Still cant change the iso limits tho
 
I was thinking that but it took me forever to set the back button focus im reluctant to have to do it all over again!!!

Thats as maybe, but I think I'd still be doing a reset. At least that way you know you're starting with a level playing field :thumbs:
 
Reset it or you'll forever be trying to figure out what the previous owner has his settings set at and will just be scratching your head trying to figure out why it doesnt work for you as the previous owner had made a single change which is buried in the menu system somewhere.
 
Advice gratefully received! I reset it and started again. Seems to work now! I'm sure the camera shop were trying to be helpful, but as you say, there might have been other things set as well.

Hi. Used it really for the first time at a charity event last Sunday (ACW came too). Mostly with the 24-70 and a flash. Finding the weight and some of the buttons/menus a bit awkward from what I'm used to, and realistically I don't think for me its a 'walk about' camera. Anyhow the charity seem overjoyed with the pics even if I was feeling a bit hypercritical. So far so good. Not long to the pre-seasons so will get some real use of it then.
 
You need to update your 'camera bag' as it's still showing the 50D...

When pre-season starts and you start using it for sports in anger your love will grow and grow.
 
Hi. I also just got a cross-body camera strap after ACW loaned me his for a test. Soooo much better than having it hanging round my neck! Weight of the camera seems so much less. Looking forward to using that outside soon.
