Just got myself an iphone 4 to play around with. Have been a longtime android user so have 2 questions (initially....).

I have 2 computers - work (xp) and personal (osx). All the data that i want to sync is on my personal machine - does it matter which one i initially set up the phone with? can i sync with more than 1?

I am using google contacts / mail and calendar. I see i can set these up to sync as an exchange, but can only ' pull' the data (battery intensive). Is there a smart way i can set things up so google is still my master, but sends the necessary data to apple so apple can then 'push' the data?

One more question, i set up itunes match and uploaded my music last night - how do i see that music on my iphone?

no, it doesn't matter which computer you activate your iPhone. but it will matter which computer you sync your iphone with. sync with your home computer.

I don't think you can have 2 calendars/contacts. Google should be able to push updates to your device, my Gmail is pushed.

I believe you need to sign into your Apple account in the settings app and turn on iTunes match under Settings->Music.

Gmail is not "pushed" to the iPhone if you went through the usual "add account" process. Your mobile will be set to poll Googlemail every x amount of minutes as determined in the settings. You CAN however apply a workaround to get Google to push email to the phone:

To get started, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account… and select Microsoft Exchange. On the next page, enter your full e-mail address, password and whatever inbox name you’d like, then hit “Next.”

More options will appear. Enter “m.google.com” in the Server field, leave the Domain field blank, enter your full e-mail address in the Username field, and your password in the Password field. Hit “Next,” and on the next page, deselect Contacts and Calendars unless you want to overwrite your phone’s existing contacts and calendar. Hit “Save,” and you’re good to go.

Cheers ricardo, all set up.

Regarding itunes match, have enabled the option in settings, but just see a 'storefront' when i open itunes on the phone?

iTunes match is a paid for service. Have you subscribed to it?

Assuming you've subscribed and uploaded, you access your music via the iPhone music player, not the iTunes app.

Ah, that'll help.

But, it shows 'no content'...

And yes, subscribed yesterday, left the laptop on uploading overnight. Itunes match enabled in settings, 'show all music' is on.

Problem resoved itself....

One more thing, i have an mp3 that i want to use as a ringtone. Google search brings up a rather unnecessarily lengthy procedure - is there an easy way that doesn't require conversion via itunes?
