Grrrr......picked up the Yash mat and the strap caught around the table and pulled it out of my hand, 3 feet to the floor.

Shutter now won't fire and the focus ratchet grinds...:bang: Good job I'm taking the Leica to Newton Ellis tomorrow, the Yash can come too.

Eeep, that slow motion drop! I something similar to my folder a few weeks ago and works better now that it did before.

Ouch :bonk: Hopefully it'll be ok.

Done that twice myself Andy manage to catch the camera both times, I hope all will be OK.

Ouch !! Or is it another way of justifying the Mamiya......

Hope it's not a write off mate.

To be honest my only justification is that I have enough money

I'm sure it won't be a massive fix, there's not a huge amount to go wrong in them and it did only cost me £26.

Andy

Oh dear sorry to hear that...but chairs and tables can be a bloody nuisance esp chairs with high backs and points, as at one Christmas I was carrying a plate full of lovely food, when walking past one chair and my shirt sleeve got caught and the food went all over the floor.
Oh BTW the chair didn't move as it was weighted down by someone sitting on it, lucky the food didn't go all over them.

How sickening when that happens!.....photo gear doesn't generally bounce very well does it?!!

Hope it all comes good at the repair shop so you can get to produce more of those fine shots!

Beyond economic repair...........oh well, never mind.

Oh no!

Sorry to hear that Andy....a real shame!

Don't bin it though.....always best to hold on for spares....often odd screws etc will fit other cameras too!

Beyond economic repair just means they'd charge you more than the camera is worth... doesn't write it off for repair, or for at least a bit of tinkering.

My Yashica Mat would no longer fire reliably with the shutter release, and I knew that a CLA would not be worth the time, so I instead decided to open it up (TLRs are fantastically simple cameras, only the Synchro-Compur/Seiko/whatever shutters are the complex bits) as a learning exercise. They are beautiful bits of mechanical gears, levers and mechanisms!

Really sorry to hear that and gutted for you. As others have said don't bin it, if nothing else it will make a great paperweight come spares department.

Or stick it on ebay as slightly faulty...

Or "I found this in my loft, don't know if it works though as I know nothing about cameras"

I shall probably have a go at taking it to bits. Nice to know how they work even if i can't repair it. It only cost £26 so it's not a major financial loss but I really liked using it. Still, the mamiya should be a perfect replacement. I've already got the 180mm lens and I won a 55mm last night so just waiting for the camera.

Was it the one with the Nikon filters?

Not sure whether to say sorry or blame you for pushing it up....

Blame him Andy, at least when Mrs Andy asks you why you've spent the Christmas money on more shiny things

It didn't go up by very much, I think you got a bargain.:)

TBH I think I did....
