Goes to, Me!

Off to NT Stourhead earlier today. Lake was calm, lovely reflection of the bridge. Rucksack off, tripod up, get camera out of bag.... Fail.

When Mrs J moaned about my "stuff" (she used another word beginning with S) in the spare room I had a quick tidy up. Usually I keep My X-T3, 10-24, 50-140 & 35 f1.4 in a "grab bag" ready to go. I'd put the bag away but left the camera out as the memory card was still in the computer. I was "advised" to tidy up the desk, so I quickly put the camera in to a cupboard that's full of my stuff.

Obviously, I grabbed the bag thinking the camera was packed away. I ended up walking around Stourhead carrying the bloody rucksack with a tripod strapped to it, without taking any pictures???

So, I've done the flat battery thing, I've done the leaving the card behind thing, and now I've elevated to the "doing photography without the camera" thing.... :banghead:  :grumpy:

I did something similar there (Stourhead) many years ago, I'd just bought a new-to-me F80 to replace my F65 so stuck it in the bag in the F65's slot and headed off. About 1/2 way round the lake, the battery was flat. The batteries I had as spares in the bag were the ones for the F65... Did save me a few quid though - D&P + film costs add up PDQ!!!

You see, if you'd had a nice big, heavy DSLR, you'd have noticed the camera wasn't in the bag ;)

While working as a photographer for a football club I travelled 100 miles to a northern stadium, stood pitch side pre match I was chatting to a photographer from my local paper. He suddenly let out a massive curse and announced he’d left the bodies at home and only had lenses with him! Sadly he was using Nikon and I had got Canons. In the end I sent him spares of my photos and he bought me a couple of pints!
A few months previously I’d gone to a wedding fayre at a local hotel on a Sunday, for a different local paper. I’d done a match the previous day, taken all the memory cards out the bodies to download the images for the club. When I arrived I suddenly realised I’d got no memory cards with me. Luckily the paper had called me earlier offering me the chance to duck out of the job as the weather was so bad with incredible high winds and torrential rain forecast. I told them I’d gone, but was totally dead (it was, I think there was one couple there and a lot of very bored stall holders) they offered to pay me anyway, but I declined as I’d not sent them any images.

Driven for an hour before realising that the 6ft long fishing rods were not in the car, wife was with me and hadnt thought to say did you want the ones by the front door.
Gone fishing a left the reels at home.
Camera wise ive only left a tripod at home or items ive managed to work around

I can't say that has ever happened to me , but I feel your pain Steve :)

I paid good money to go to a Hide and, once ensconced, realised I'd left my tripod head and Gimbal at home (couldn't decide which one to take)!!!.
Thankfully, the Hide had pre-positioned Gimbals, so I wasn't a total 'Tool'...

Well, it seems I'm not the only plank... I've told the Mrs it's her fault, if she let me get the garage converted for my photography & amateur radio, this wouldn't happen!! Her answer "Buy a couple more memory cards, and just swap them when you get back from being out with the camera".

She talks sense, but I still want that garage conversion!!

How big are your memory card stores? Mine barely fit in a LowePro AW400 - so I was told to buy an AW500 :)
