Hi there,

I was hoping someone could help me please. My Grandfather's friend passed away a few years ago and left him various photography lenses and equipment. My Grandfather would like to sell the items in the hope of raising some funds. The difficult part is that neither of us are photographers and haven't a clue what we'd be selling, or if anything is worth any money. We would like to put the items on Ebay and wondered if someone could assist with naming each item for us, or sending a link to the same item on Ebay. We would truly appreciate any assistance with this, all the numbers and letters mean nothing to us and the last item looks more like a broken stethoscope to us than anything photography related haha!

As they're all old film camera lenses, or film related accessories, I'm going to move this thread over into the Film and Conventional section, where the crusty old inhabitants will doubtless be able to sort out what's what for you... ;)

#1 Olympus OM Fit Teleconverter... ebay search here

#2 Olympus om 80mm f4 macro - ebay search here

#3 olympus mitakon 28mm f2.8 here

#4 olympus 200mm f4 here

#5 olympus t32 flash here

#6 olympus om focusing screen here

#7 olympus om angle view finder here

#8 olympus om extension tubes here

#9 olympus om double cable release (that's the solver one) here
pc flash sync cable here

(I've linked to completed sales on Ebay, you may have to have a look through the results to get the exact same item - say the teleconverter for example - there's lots of different types, and without photos of ALL the lettering/inscriptions its difficult to tell, but at least you've got the item in your hands to check. )

Hope this helps.

Wow! That was fast!! Thank you so much for your help, I have a starting point now instead of being completely confused. May I ask another question please? In your opinion, should I sell the items individually or as a bundle?

Super duper thank you to you both :D :D

if you're going on ebay, personally I'd sell them separately...

I reckon that the 80mm Macro lens is the highlight of the collection, but if you bundled it all together, I doubt you'd make much more than that lens does on its own.

Thanks Mark, will start listing them individually and let you know how I get on. Can you confirm if the macro lens I have is the same as this please?

The one I'm holding says:

OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM ZUIKO AUTO-1:1 MACRO 80MM 1:4 110580

The other listing adds F4.0 Bellows / Macro Tube Lens and I wasn't sure if mine is that too?

I am hoping it's the same so I can use the other description as I'm not really sure what to write on the description or title.

So sorry to be such a pain! I really appreciate your help though :)

Just had a thought, excuse me if this is completely wrong. Should I bundle the flashgun and pc flash sync cable together? Or do they not work together? Sorry again!

The more you can describe things the better, if posting on ebay. With lenses, this should include whether the focussing ring turns smoothly, whether the aperture blades (seen inside the lens) close down snappily when actuated (you can do this without a camera being present), and the condition of the glass, in particular whether it shows cleaning marks (scratches) or has any fungus present. Fungus is common and can occur on the glass within a lens - to see it you may need to angle the lens towards a bright light source & move it about looking for a sort of filamental haze or milky 'crazing'.

Photos of lenses head-on and tail-on are also useful.

Yes bundle the synch lead. Why not?

Nothing of great value so I'd go for auction and start low, maybe put a reserve on the 80mm.

Thank you Rog and John!

I have listed 2 items so far. Took a while to double check all the things you mentioned - they are both immaculate and snappy. I have found 1 lens that has specks on the lens, though I'm not sure if they will wipe off. Can I use a brand new, dry duster to gently dust the lens or will it damage it?

Revised, thank you! I don't know what I would have done without everyone's help today, if I could buy you a drink to say thank you, I would!
