Test it by taking shots of whatever you plan on using it for if you buy it.

Evening!

Planning to hire Tammy 150-600 G2 lens(Canon mount) from http://www.lensesforhire.co.uk and wanted to ask where could I test it? This is a test drive before trying to buy the lens.

Does anyone know if TPles get a discount from http://www.lensesforhire.co.uk?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Are you aware that the owner of LFH is a member here, perhaps you could ask him?

FWIW he does have discount promotions such as at Xmas time or as offered in February. But a general discount.......not that I am now aware of?

Birds, Wildlife, Rally something in and around Surrey. Don't know locations hence asking here. Cheers

No. Unfortunately not.

I'd like to be able to offer TP members some sort of discount, but I can't see a practical (ie administratively straightforward) way to restrict it to "established" members, with some sort of criterion related to duration of membership. I'm open to suggestions.

@StewartR Was just asking in general but I like your proposal of criterion related to duration of membership. If not reduction in rental charges, perhaps let members keep the rented equipment an extra day or two :)

Just some thoughts:-

Tice Meadow - not been but sounds interesting for birds.
RHS gardens @ Wisley - have seen in past years little Grebe nesting on the lake around the new glasshouse. Other waterfowl on the pagoda lake.
No rallying but there are Hillclimbs at Brooklands Museum.......I think I recall reading that some Motorsports goes on at Blackbush Airport???
Captive wildlife @ British Wildlife Centre nr Lingfield

If I can think of others I will add some???

Surrey area. Do you not have the " Surrey Hills AONB " The AONB stands for area of outstanding natural beauty and covers one quarter of the county of Surrey.

There is a map available to show you around :

There must be something interesting there, Surrey and Kent are famous.

If you're lucky, you might catch some owls at Papercourt Meadows in Ripley ( on the other side of the road from the priory ). I've never seen any but maybe @PINNACLE could help ?

If you havent used a lens that long before it can be a bit of a learning curve, i would try to look for somewhere that the birds ect are fairly used to people, rather than going looking for the more difficult subjects.

Unfortunately not showing well this year I have blanked more often than not or it is ISO12,800 o’clock.

Bushy Park or Richmond Parks for a good mix and a guarantee of something, with Bushy being the smaller and closer choice. Deer, birds a few helicopters flying over you can’t go wrong. BSB is at Brands this weekend but something on most days. A walk down your local canal early morning will give you an idea on carrying a largish lens and give some surprising results.

Purely a random spotting along that road (the one from which you can see Newark Priory), a couple of times over many months I have seen a kestrel landing in the shrubbery ~ good hunting perhaps for any raptors. But was driving so no chance to stop even if I had the camera.,.......oh, and only one car park there, over the canal bridge on the ridge heading towards Ripley.
