I know this is a photo crit section but saw a stunning BoP this evening and didn't ahve my camera with me so hoping a description may lead to a few images being posted and an ID for the bird.

The bird was spotted sitting on the road before waiting for me to come to a complete halt before driving off. He was a gorgeous rich brown clour with heavy feathers making him look like he was wearing trousers, strong yellows on the feet and beak and was big.

At first I thought it was a Golden Eagle but then thought that was a daft idea in the Hampshire countryside!!

I know it's difficult without a photo but any ideas what BOP's would be found in Hampshire that match the criteria, I've seen a good few but nothing like this one before in the wild...

Anything like this Ryan?

I think he'd have mentioned the bells...

TWIT
I meant the bird there are a few ferrels down that way know to be surviving
and breeding and no they are not born with bells :
:D

How about hatched?

Common Buzzard must outnumber Harris Hawk by about 500:1 in Hampshire, I think I'll stick with my original suggestion.

nope born they have to climb out
the embryonic sac
Agreed there are more Buzzards
than HH in the wild
However as I have no idea what it is its a reference shot for Ryan to confirm or deny
personally I don't give a **** what it is just trying to help out a mate :p

An admirable quality.
But I don't think suggesting a species with something like a 0.2% likelihood when compared to the commonest (and most variable) raptor in the county, is helpful...:p

Exactly like the photo (without the bells :) ) but without the white feathers at the back...

I didn't think buzzards were that brown...

Thanks for that peeps :D

Defo a Buzzard then....

Absolutely stunning bird, was happy to stay parked up for a while as was surprised how long he stayed put. Luckily was tired today as I love that stretch of road and would normally been travelling a fair site quicker which could have been interesting!

Sorry it is the Bird in the pics, so it's a Harris Hawk :D A tad different to spot, why oh why did I leave my camera at home as it had been in the car all weekend!
