I can think of dozens of reasons why we should have ID cards. And I've just seen another one - YOU!
why? because he cannot express himself very well? He made a point, albeit poorly.
People who get aggro off the police usually do so because they give aggro.
Agreed
This often stems from problems with positive ID.

If the Police Officer does not believe the name provided and there is no valid form of id provided then it's off to the local police station.
Agreed
Producing an ID card to quickly and positively confirm one's identity will enable both parties to continue on their way quickly and with no aggro.
Pure conjecture. Amongst other things, I carry a photo driving licence and passport at all times. They would quickly prove my ID - Fact, not conjecture. And frankly my "attitude" would determine how much aggro was involved. To suggest an ID card would eliminate aggro is again pure conjecture and completely down to the attitude of all involved, including the official/s.
ID cards will, in such circumstances, result in quicker on-street processing.
Again, not true. It may in some circumstances, but it's no guarantee.
I feel sad that there are people who wouldn't feel proud to carry a UK ID card - or are fearful of having to provide accurate ID information to a police officer. Are you that ashamed of who you are?
Now the above is where you depart from a reasoned logical debate by getting all emotive on us. What has pride got to do with carrying an ID card? Where is what shame and for what? and more importantly, as you should know, this is not just about providing information to a police officer. If it was there would not be such legitimate concern that there is!
What a sh!te state this country is in.
:nono: The :rules: state you should not evade the swear filter.
