Hi,

I am looking to go to Iceland in September and hire a Motorhome for 5 days to tour around in. I would like to visit some of the famous waterfalls and scenery.

Does anyone have any advice about this, especially if they have done it before? I have read that a Motorhome is best as it eliminates the cost of hotels etc...but a bit concerned about the potential state of the roads that time of year.

Any advice much appreciated!

We had 9 days along the South, staying in Vik, Hofn and Hali with a couple of nights up at Gullfoss near Geysir. Could have spent a month doing just that part! Put a few possible locations in Daguiridas's thread on the weather. The ring road was kept relatively clear, as was the road up to Gullfoss but even those roads got quite slushy for a while. Distances between towns are huge - keep stocked up with bread, milk etc!

Have a quick look on my flickr page Andy. I geo-tagged the spots we visited (the TP crew) quite accurately so it might give you a few ideas. 4-5 days would give you enough time to explore all the waterfalls, glaciers, ice beach, Vik beach and amazing headlands we were lucky enough to see
