I work for a railway franchise run by Arriva, and the photo competition is open to all of Arriva's employees throughout Europe (think that runs in to many thousands).

The competition is eligible for all Arriva staff and it has tobe of something Arriva operate, there is prize money up for grabs but the caveat of course is they can then pick through some nice shots to use themselves, but I'm fine with that.

My shot is the second placed image for July 2010, and I won £150 for it, so I'm happy enough for them to use it.
 
good deal for all, you win a prize and some money, they get some Images for advertising use for a bargain price :D
 
Yeas, i recognised Barmouth, but how NOISY is that shot?? Good to see they're not too picky or fussed by post processing either. I think the selective colouring in the winning July 2010 shot is what made it stand out. All over black and white, or all over colour on what seems a very dull day and the train is lost!
 
excellent, nice shot too. Really like the other photo in black and white with just the train left in colour.

I think the shot I'd take and enter is someone starring at their watch with an empty station in the background :D

Have you been there? It's pretty nice sometimes, living there was sometimes a bit of a drag, the sheer number of tourists was crazy.

And yes such a noisy shot, no idea how that was placed so highly.
 
Yep, I've been there as one of those tourists lol. It's a very lovely place with nearby access to so many more nice places too.

Well done! i think it was just unlucky that the number 1 placed image was entered the same month as yours because yours are streets ahead of the others for previous months.
