People would stop using the word "CAPTURE".... Its very annoying, to me anyway when people comment on a picture and say "nice capture"

Its cheesy it sounds cliche and nobody on here is 80 years old. Great Shot, Nice Photo anything but capture

just saying it annoys me :shake:

Dom, I feel your pain.

It's the same for me with people asking to 'see your Sigma 10-20mm shots' and showing off their latest HDR masterpiece that is actually and oversharpened, halo-riddled piece of dog poop!!! HDR is pants 99% of the time and Siggy wideangles have more written about hem than Jesus... and they're mediocre at the best of times!!!

I'd go further and include those other two as well. In fact anyone who posts one line responses in appraisal threads get's my goat. What's the point? Why's it great? What makes it nice? Explain!

Also, for some reasn the emoticons on this forum annoy me far more than most, especially these ... :clap: :shrug: and :nono:

I do however like this one :bang:

I capture images, capture is the prefered word to use since it best describes what a photographer does, life is too short to get a bug up your bum about a simple word. :)

I use capture. I receive and post one line replies to images.
And you know what, if it turns out that somoene is strung up enough to get irritated by it, then I may just smile a little bit more. :naughty:

Actually, that reminded me of a thought that occured to me recently, how come I never get to see the word "shutterbug" ever get used.
I thought it's a charming ye-olde fashioned word but I've never ever seen it crop up in all the time I've been visiting this fine web site since I joined up 6 months ago.
Anyway, back to the point of this thread: I can't really see what's wrong with the expression "capture", as that's what you are doing every time you take a picture, ain't ya? You're "catching" a moment in your life and hope to keep it with you for as long as you live.
 
But darling what if one has captured the nuance of the essence of the soul of the artist who has presented such an image for your delectation.

im not getting hung up over it :p just sudder everytime i see the word as part of a praise... Capture is the type of word that was used when people used to coat their own film with silver and a photograph was a process.

Nowadays i can "capture" 6.5 photos every second

That's one of the reasons I don't always post when I think something is a nice photo, I can't always explain why I like it so I just butt out so as not to annoy people like you :D :shrug: :lol::lol:

its just a small pet hate, nothing against the people who use it just the way it sounds when you read the comment
