For the last 7-8 mths I've not been particularly motivated in taking photos of anything, let alone my preferred genre (still life).
I was asked last year if I would do a demonstration of my still life for my camera club. At the time of asking i was motivated and enthusiastic. As the time came closer and I'd lost my mojo for photography, I was dreading it and was quite nervous. I'm not one for standing up in front of people and being the center of attention. Even though I like to think I know what I'm doing with regard to taking still life photos, when in front of a group, I get a bit flustered.
I think last night when pretty well, they all seemed to appreciate what I had talked about, the practical demo and how I post process to get the style I want. But more importantly for me, it has really given me a pickup, a drive to take more photos and prove to me that I really do like creating an image.
Even though selling my photo gear was never really a though I'd had, I'm glad I didn't. You never know how or when your motivation will come back.

Well done, I also think that the COVID issue has had an effect on our lives more than we thought it would. I certainly have backed off from things I would normally approach with ease.

Get that camera out and get snapping ;)

Great stuff and glad it's done you good too.

You could always vary things by switching to a different camera for instance. I've recently been bitten by the film bug again and found myself watching a lot of video's on large format (5x4) and medium format (6x9) as well as 35mm to the point where my M2 is back in use as we speak and there's hopefully a medium format 6x9 on the way. Processing at home has never been easier with good dark bags available and all sorts of chemistry and of course you only need to process the negatives then scan them onto your computer (if you don't want to print them in a darkroom). Its even possible to process 10x8 and 5x4 negatives at home without a darkroom! I'm actually disabled and limited in what I can do but with devices such as the Lab-box daylight loading tank (35mm & 120) and Cinestill DF96 Monobath chemistry I'm able to do it myself.(I shoot mainly B&W)
I find myself now, even though my subject matter is somewhat limited, excited about my photography again, more so than I have been in decades.
