Yes
So, I don't have enough film cameras. I only have:

- Bronica ETRS
- Pentax Spotmatic slr
- Lubitel
- Fed II
- Kodak P&S
- A few others I can't remember that were donated to different family and friends.

BUT! Ever since I had my Nikon F70 stolen I've had a massive hole in my selection :cuckoo:

Anyway, what I'm looking for is a your thoughts on what I should get... My only requirements are:
- Autofocus
- Ability to flip to manual and control aperture & shutter
- Lightweight and small.

Oh, and a budget of less than 100 quid including a lens (if your suggestion is a camera with interchangeable lens)

I was thinking of getting a Nikon F55. That does somewhat fit the bill. I believe that's compatible with my 85mm lens as well, but if not I'd probably just pick up a 50mm or something and stick it on it.

I like the idea of trying some different too though. So it doesn't necessarily have to be Nikon. I'm that crazy I'd even go Canon!

Suggestions please!!

Nikon F80 might fit the bill. It's light, can use VR and AF-S lenses, and it's pretty cheap secondhand. I picked mine up for about £20 off of eBay.

Aye, the F5 is out anyway! If I want to take ultra quality stuff I'll just use the D700.

Effectively, I'm just looking for the smallest autofocus, film camera with the ability to control the aperture and shutter speed.

So, it's looking like F65 vs F80 at the moment.

I don't need external flash, but if I'm going Nikon I may as well make sure all of my existing lens' will work on it. I was originally thinking an F55 would be fine, but now I read it won't work with the 85mm.

Ok, so for a Nikon I think I'd choose the F65/N65 because it's going to be a little smaller.

Any other Autofocus small cameras you can think of? That you can control the aperture and shutter with?

There's an F60 for sale at the moment. I can't link to it from my phone, its in a thread called "various film cameras" or something similar, currently in the Other Brands section.

Whearabouts in South London are you? I am near Sutton & have an F65 that I am never going to use again (have an F80 & an F5 for my AF needs & it has been sitting unused for a few years). Judging by ebay prices it is pretty much worthless so if you want it, it is yours.

Only thing about the F65 & F80 are that they won't meter with AI/AIS lenses.

Message me if you are interested.

^ very generous offer, and welcome to Film & Conventional! It's sad how little those models are worth these days...

I find it more sad, from a bank balance point of view, that cameras like the F5 are still so expensive! Would have kept my old one had I not needed the money at the time :(

Clean ones still manage to hold their value very well (not their original value, but still relatively high for a film camera) indeed. It's interesting though, there are clear price differences between each tier of models (amateur/enthusiast etc.), much like there always has been with camera models - but much more suppressed compared to new, of course.

One day, £20 might separate a used D40 compared to a used D7000...!

I spotted that. I'd take a F55 or Canon Rebel 2000 over the F60 if I could get one.

That is a very generous offer, wow! Thank you. I'm based near Barnes so could easily come take that off your hands :).

Let me PM you see if we can sort something out

Aye, I agree. I was looking on ebay and you can easily grab some fairly decent cameras for 20 quid and less. And the shots they produce, due being film, is far superior. Crazy, isn't it.
