Yes, thats right, you heard, an F100... please try and stop me :shake:

Andy

Don't do it, or i'll come round your house and stamp on your bessas :D

ok i'll try and stop you ,,,,GO AND GET ONE sorry not much help am i !

that's the last thing I need.........

competition...:|

Andy, please give me your camera, its even wearing the lens I bought for it......

And Rob you keep big big clodhoppers of my Bessas, they're delicate and sensitive.

And you, you Kentish salad eater, you're no help at all, although I do value your advice and my bonus is coming on thursday......

Are you after one as well Jox, mmm intersting.

Andy

Go on Andy you know you want one and they are very nice.

Well there are two in ffordes one looks nice the other looks yuk.

Maybe 3 in competition, F2SB or F100???

Choices choices.

I actually use the lens more on my D700, it's a better walkabout lens than the 28-70, which just becomes a complete deadweight after a few hours.

The F100 is great, nicely balanced and handles really well, especially with the grip, which was silly cheap when I got it about 4 years ago. Cost about £20 on ebay and it's near mint. The camera itself is in excellent condition and cost no more than £150, although I think prices have gone up in the last 4 years or so.

Andy - they don't fit pockets in shrouds mate - if you want one, and there's food on the table and a roof over your head, just buy the camera....

NO YOU DON'T.

But you do really, so just go and get it. I'll take a Bessa off your hands, just to make some room.

Do it.

Though I fancy an F4 more. I prefer knobs to buttons. Ooh err.

Thanks guys you've all been a big help......Sod it, if I don't get one I'll become grumpy and make my wife's life a living hell. Mind you if I do buy one the roles will be reveresed.:D

Andy

You won't regret it Andy, it's a great camera for not a lot of money and if you decide you don't like it you can always sell it on.

With one vital difference, you will have the camera! ;)

Point taken, very well made.

I've been tempted, and came close to getting one when they came out, but decided to stick to my F2. The F3 and the F4 never really appealed to me, but the F100 was a sort of 'lite' F5. It would probably still be my first choice if I wanted a Nikon SLR with all the automatic features.

Mind you, the F2 would probably get along pretty well with its younger cousin!

I have to say I think it fills a gap for me, I have an F3 for manual filmie stuff and a D300 for djikal and an nice F100 AF would slot in nicely for days when I want to shoot film quickly without having to manual focus.

So basically my pleas to help STOP me buying one have failed and you've now all persuaded me to get one......Thanks

Exactly my situation with the A1, 7D and EOS-3 mate - and to be honest, I use the EOS-3 more than any of the other film setups I've got.

Andysnap, Great camera. Mine goes nicely with my F4S and my F5. But I read in the past that there were 2 different types of film holder fitted to them. One had a square end, and the other had a forked end. I think the latter type(forked) could be prone to breakage. I could be corrected on that.

I believe this is correct Fred but from a little research it seems that it was reasonbly rare and that Nikon replaced it freeof charge so hopefully if they were going to break they have done and are now repaired. At least thats my theory

any reason your going for the f100 as opposed to the f90, I picked up my f90 with 2 sigma zooms for £70 off ebay, took the lenses to a local camera shop and got £60 credit for them and bought the 50mm 1.8 with the proceeds. Bargain of the year if you ask me!

Whatever you do, don't look on Grays of Westminster's website, where they have several, including a boxed body they reckon has never been used.

Is that because it will be very tempting ? Never used Grays but they seem to have an exceptional reputation.

I have kept away from here for quite a bit, only having a few peeks, now and again, but OMG, seeing what others have bought/acquired/found in rubbish tips:lol:it looks like I will be searching for more equipment.

They do and from my experience it's well deserved.

They're not the cheapest but the quality of the merchandise, their service and knowledge is second to none.

Although I only use them for special acquisitions, most of my Nikon kit has come from a well known auction site or from fellow TP'ers, but then I like my kit to have that used and well-worn look as it stops me being precious about it and it means it all gets used rather than sitting in a display cabinet.

I did have an F90 and it was a good camera but I just want an F100 it seems to have everything I want in an a/f film camera.

Oh I looked, and drooled, and decided that as good a rep as they have I really couldn't justify the prices.

I know that feeling, drags you in this section doesn't it....

I understand that mate, if its too nice looking you do tend to get precious over it, one of the reasons I like my F3 is because it has brassing and a few chips but it still works perfectly, until some idiot rewinds the film the wrong way and out of the canister.:bang:

Andy

how did you get on with it Andy ? manage to get it out alright ?

( not cack handed are you by any chance ? ) :D

Yes I am cack-handed and its still in the camera. I'm going to take it to a guy locally who has a darkroom and he's going to sort it for me.

Andy

he might as well develope and print them for you at the same time then

Good luck with that!

Yep, thats the plan. I didn't know anyone in Crewe did dev & printing until I looked last night and he's only about 2 miles away as well. Might use him some more if he turns out ok, prices look reasonable and I can drop off and pick up to save postage.

This is the place

Apparently he is really good.

Well, I've gone and done it, thanks folks you did a great job of dissuading me from buying one....

Picked up a minty one with a nice Nikon strap and batteries from a certain auction site for £157.50 next day delivery. I also bought a Nikon 50mm f1.8 from vintage classic camera and I will be getting a 75-150mm E series lens from of here and a new light meter as well.
Bloody hell I'm glad I'm not an obsessive or this hobby could cost me a fortune. :D

I think you need to get rid of some Bessa's now that you've got the F100 :P

I bet your going to be very happy with it! I know I get through a roll in half the time on my F90 as opposed to any of my other cameras as framing and focusing is all too quick and easy :D

The Bessa's are mine all mine....mwa mwa mwahhhh

i'm glad we talked you in..........................err sorry we never quite talked you out of it ,,
now what else do you need us to talk you out of ??
