Yes
Our council has recently opened a new library, which a friend of mine runs the child section. I`ve recently joined up and was chatting to her about the small selection of photography books (about four....)

She`s had a word with the lady that runs the adult section, as has said if I suggest some, they`ll order them in.

The ones they have seem to be digital manipulation rather than actual "photography" books.

I`ve suggested Exposure explained, which I already have and is terrific.

Obviously, this is a council library and they have budget restraints so good value for money is important as well.

'the making of landscape photographs' by Charlie Waite.

If I had to pick one of my photography books to last me the rest of my days, that would be it.

Light, Science and Magic - Everything you ever wanted to know about controlling light.

Digital Photographer's Handbook - Tom Ang ...

Excellent read for those just starting out in the world of DigiTog or making the move from the other stuff from 'tog pre-history ... :D

Wot Venomator said - 'tis brilliant.
Also:
The Art of Digital Photography by John Hedgecoe (also Dorling Kindersley).

Ah yes, I`ve got the John Hedgecoe one already, I`d forgot about that.

What about other areas, like portraiture? (sp?)

Good thread.

All Bryan Peterson books are very good and easy to understand.

Well, I`ve printed out all the information on the books suggested and checked through the library services computer, they`ve got all exept the one`s written by Bryan Peterson which they`re now going to buy in for me.

The others are being sent over from other librarys in the borough. It just goes to show how much the library service has improved since I was seven.....

Thanks for all your suggestions, they`ve been most helpful.
