I think someone may have tried to scam me on Gumtree, what do you reckon?

I post a fair bit on Gumtree and with every advert I place I make sure to add that the sale will be cash on collection only.

Tonight I posted an old phone I had with an accurate description describing it's flaws and clear pictures. As always the advert ended with the line "cash on collection only"

I'm always wary when I get a quick response asking if an item is still available when it has only been posted for an hour but always respond to them as I think Gumtree send random "is it available?" messages to check if people are responding to their adverts,

To save typing the full conversation I've taken screen grabs on my phone.
I can't help but feel that Tom wasn't entirely genuine when looking to buy my phone which I had advertised at £35, have a read and see if you agree.

That's funny.

Nice one :D I used to use Gumtree a lot but got fed up of the scammers. I always put Cash on Collection too but makes no difference to them. Ive had people with different names asking me to send to the same post code!

It could be genuine though . Tell him you have sent it and are awaiting payment

My usual response to obvious scammers is "Foxtrot Oscar - over and out!"

If I've got time I always waste theirs. It's a service I provide to the rest of the world, while they are dealing with me they are missing out on bothering someone else.
I do the same with phonecalls, used to have a great time arranging patio doors for 3rd floor flats etc. Unfortunately most of them now are automated calls so with those I try to say as many single random words as I can before they hang up on me (never got past 5) Again it's my contribution to society. :)

Random words like , trump, president ,allah.akbar, nuclear ,bomb . Should get a response from GHQ at the least

I did once keep a double glazing rep on the phone for a hour arranging for new windows in a tower block ,told him he had actually got through to head of the housing dept by accident.
One of the girls in my office who had a posh phone voice , when she got bored used to phone random people up and get them to talk to any items of fruit or vegetables in there house . Quiet often worked to

Looks like Aramex do international freight forwarding from named mailboxes. You send the phone to Slough, they send it on to Latveria.
Any expectation of payment will be Doomed.

Had another 4 try today

Didn't spend too much time interacting but had a little fun with this one.
