I have a 10 year old daughter who is showing an interest in photography and she now uses my first camera, a Pentax K-r. She certainly has a good eye for a good picture and at this age they pick it up so fast.
 
Same here, my daughter has shown great interest, she has even started a after school photography club...she came home and showed me some pictures taken on her iPhone...they were that good for an iPhone 5 that as a bad parent I doubted she had taken it, so much so that I needed to check, how bad did I feel when it turned out that she had indeed taken the photo, she can now pick up my 5D2 and shoot completely in manual in all conditions (until it was stolen of course)
 
My 5 year old has always taken an interest in photos and videos. he can use a smartphone and setup a video shoot on his own the other day that he wanted to upload on YouTube. I have a samsung nx5 for him to use. I think I'm going to start taking him out.
