I think film is going to push me to far

Everything I buy is with the intention of using it. Unfortunately, the more I have, the less likely that becomes.

It's a bit like a couple of my friend's who have huge vinyl record collections but still buy more. Even if they devoted all of their spare time to it, they will probably not listen to the majority of them in the rest of their lifetimes.

Steve.

That right there is why I should stop going to car boot sales and charity shops  I saw an old Brownie Reflex sitting neglected on a table among a load of crap at a local car boot. It was raining slightly and everything was getting wet. I looked down at it's little eyes (lenses) and I saw it cry for help. So I gave the lady the £2.50 she wanted and picked him up and put him in my dry pocket. After a little clean at home and a bit of fiddling to get it clean, he now sits smiling on my desk next to his new friends.

It's a hobby in it self picking up old film cameras (and lenses) for peanuts and try to get the best out of them..well it has given me a new interest other than say ONLY taking a T90 with excellent lens and getting perfect/ sharp shots all the time.

Yeah, I agree :) I got hold of a roll of 127 and took some photos of Exeter Christmas markets with it, then sent them off to be developed. There was one photo of an old VW van turned into a coffee stall which I really liked so I printed it (was actually my very first print) and I was really pleased with the result. Doesn't get quite the same results as my RB67 mind, but for £2.50 it kept me entertained for a while lol

Well done, but for me I'm never going back to box brownie, coronets, Bencinis and so on as I've been there done it many, many moons ago.

I'm waiting for the postie, then I'll have to get to work.

I was reading a book by a pretty decent photographer who shot LF for his work but advocated "toy" cameras for playing around, his theory was that it helped relax his eye and mind and that the simplicity allowed him to concentrate on composition alone since he had no toys not even selective DOF. I like box cameras for much the same reason, plus they're cheaper and you can get a new one every time you're feeling blocked if you want.

Its funny I've been doing this for years but never really thought of it in that way till I was reading the author was talking about doing the same.

Actually now you said, i forgot to had to my list the polaroid (fp-100 kind). This and the likon lf35 have really grown on me as you say the simplicity and the relaxation of just thinkong of the frame is a great plus. And of course the polaroid as a whole lot of advantages, instantaneous, possibly for sharing, uniqueness and non reproductibility... Only a downside which is the price of the film.

Postie has been!

The 137 MD Quartz needs new light seals but otherwise looks to be in good condition.
The Zeiss 200 3.5 is looking rather nice on the RTS.
I'll be at The Fringe tomorrow morning, meeting up with Charles (Rockshifter) so I'll be checking out the lens with some Fomapan 100.

My wife is in NY so I'm indulging myself...

Interesting read. I'm on the look out for a 28mm Zeiss.
The last paragraph mentions a Pentax K 45mm 2.8. I wonder if that is the same as the Zeiss Contax one, the Tessar?

The last sentence does apply!
