I should have just Googled it?

Yes - but there may be a correlation between Canon users and web browsing so there could well be more Canon users than Nikon on here as they are friendlier, more sociable and spend more time uploading/commenting rather than scratching their heads wondering what is going on ;)

Still, wouldn't mind knowing how many Olympus, Pentax, Samsung, Sigma and Sony (or any other) brethering we have

Dont go there!!!

That's another thing it doesn't account for - all the 1DII and 5D sales on eBay as people buy a replacement for the few weeks the camera is with Canon :canon:

Plus all those "thinking of switching from Canon to Nikon threads" ;)

Nikon has announced that it is now the UK's leading manufacturer of
DSLRs.

I am the best nose hair picker in the world. It must be official. I said so ;)

As I said on another post, the lower end Nikons are slightly cheaper than the equivalent Canons. They've got to be attractive in the present financial climate.

Can't beat quality over quantity though.....don't care how many they sell! ;)

I always thought the Canon stuff was cheaper ?

You should organise a pole :D

Shouldnt that be Poll?:lol::lol::lol:
I did not choose Canon over anything else as such. I looked at the 400D it had features I was happy with and it fitted my budget at the time, I have mentioned before I got the £50 cashback and found a coupon code for another big reduction plus the place where I bought it had it on offer, from what I can remember it was around the £350 mark, so it had to be done.Photgraphy is my hobby, and since joining TP I have learned a little and gained a lot, in so much as the image gives you a platform to work from, then the fun begins. So why am I picking up a 50D tomorow? Tee! Hee! I just wonder how many togs here actually had hands on experience between two or more of their choices before their decision was made, probably mostly professionals.

canons top end lenses are cheaper(from what i have seen), i know that much

Unless all the other manufacturers release their figures to Nikon and vice-versa, how would they know? :suspect:

Vauxhall sell more cars in the UK than Porsche, but what does that prove?

Maybe not, but I'm sure they could do better than a Vauxhall. lol

I'm surprised that Canon and Nikon hold 81% of the market, only leaving 19% for all the rest!

I had no idea that Nikon manufactured any cameras in the UK.

TBH Voyager I did not spot that one, seems a bit odd as I thought they were produced in Taiwan. More misleading info on the net? or maybe something we dont know? In which case it should have read, Nikon has announced that it is now the UK's leading supplier of DSLRs.

I think it just means they sell more in the UK. One of the other pages says they are made in Japan.

I rather suspect lazy journalism. I doubt any high street shop cameras are made in the UK any more.
