hi guys....

just a quick post to say i have received my first prints from DSCL and i think there amazing... 200% better than photobox and many others i have tried..

just thought i would share with you guys my happyness lol:love:

I've used them for some time & Quality vs money wise they definitely take some beating. Lustre prints are excellent. Postage charges make them slightly less viable for small print quantities though.

I always use them... excellent quality IMHO and very cheap. I compared them to Loxley earlier in the year and I didn't really see any need to pay their much higher prices.

Having just tried Sams photolabs for the first time, in my opinion they're superior to anything I've ever had back from DSCL and Loxley, and their prices are somewhere in between the two.

DSCL for me too. I have been using them for a year or more and always excellent photos and deliver is soooooo quick.:)

I cannot comment on their customer service though because I have never used them as everything is always spot on.

Customer service at DSCL most boring job in the world, never speak to anyone.:lol::lol:

I used to use DSCL a lot, thinking of going back as they're cheaper than loxley. Will be googling Sams photolabs now.

I have used them a few times, last week infact. They use an autmoated process which is why they can offer low prices. I uploaded an order at 10:46pm, the images were printed 19minutes after upload, poped in the post the next morning and I got them the next day :)

They say "All images should be supplied as SRGB" now i got told the other day its better to shoot in rgb can someone clarify or am i all mixed up here

You will get better prints if you download their colour profiles instead, if not just post process and save as an srgb jpg or tiff

Looks like I'll be using them from now on too as, bizarrely, being an Orange broadband customer I can't access their ROES software !!!

Loxley know about the problem and it is Orange specific

I use DSCL quite a bit with orange broadband.

I use the downloaded software, Opens a program that loads up into photo terminal sort of thing you find at tesco etc, import the images, select options and submit the order.

Ive found quality to be hit and miss but never un-acceptable :) Paper is much better than photobox imo.

I'd agree with hit & miss. Sometimes even with resized images I'd get borders along the sides. There's no sort of QC process so whatever prints off goes out, even if it's blatantly not right.

Sams use the ROES software, some people hate it but I love it as you can see exactly what you're going to get.

Another vote for Sams - quite simply the best printing I have every had done. Even had hand written note complementing me on some images.

Not sure I like the idea of 'hit & miss' quality - what was the reason for such comment???

Personally ive had some a little skewed so a slight white edge shows or recently had a couple that looked soft or slightly blurred but when i re-printed from the same file i sent with a local lab they were bang on:cuckoo:

As said though for the price and speed of delivery and with mostly great results (4 or 5 with slight faults out of about 80prints over a year) they are very hard to beat.

Might check this sams place out too, Togsprint is worth a shot too used them a few times and prints were very very good!

I like the speed and quality of DSCL, my only real complaint is they seem to further crop my images which is bloody annoying when I have cropped the image exactly how I want it.
