I'm in such a dilemma!! I am due an upgrade and don't know what to go for. I use the mobile for work, but not bothered about how fast the emails come through or received!!

Has anybody used both?

Seriously don't know what to do!! Any help or advice would be gratefully received!!

R:thinking:

A friend of mine got a Storm. I then showed him my iphone. He now has an iphone. ;)

I did try his Storm but the interface and touch screen were horrible.

My recommendation is get the iphone. I've had mine for 14 months now, never had a single problem and it just works really well.

All my friends have iphones..... most are moving over to something else. HTC Hero seems to be popular- mine arrives tomorrow (depending on snow....)

I have an iPhone for personal and a BB Bold for work.......really wouldnt swap either so it depends on what you need it for.......if it is more business centric....ie emails are the norm and a lot of would always go for BB, BUT if it is more for personal as well as the other things and work emails are a small piece of it...iPhone gets my vote........

Only problem is.....once you have had the iPhone there is no going back......

We've had owners of both in my team, most were iPhone users. The storm isn't a great phone by all accounts, many of those updated to the iPhone.

Although many of the iPhone users will be updating to android phones once their contracts are up, thanks to my G1 ;)

I have used both and would recommend the iphone over the storm, I found the storms internet very slow and very rarely got youtube to work on it and i hated the clicky screen but loved the quality of the display, i tried the iphone and have never looked back, i am actually posting this from my iphone whilst at work, that was something that i couldnt manage on the storm, i ended up putting a large memory card in the storm and using it as a video music player....i would go for the iphone every time now.

IPHONE.. Just look at the apps in the itunes app store.... There IS an app for that..!

Can any email accounts be set up on the i-phone?

yes, I use mine to collect my pop email and also use it for my work email ( exchange) ( you might need the assistance of your IT dept as it needs to be allowed by them.):)

But the iPhone is shaped like a bar of soap, so make sure you have good insurance :)

Graham

AND make sure you get one of the protective cases for it!!

Had a couple of friends drop theirs without one on and were told that because they hadn't used proper protection they weren't covered :(

It was the whole "paying for apps" that put me off the iphone

Had an iPhone when the 2G's came out, then the 3G then the 3gs - all got a bit 'samey' and a bit too common, so went and bought a HTC Hero - Lovin' it so far

The apps market is coming along nicely, and as its open source there are more developers jumping on board all the time.

The beauty of android phones ;) Wouldn't swap mine for the world :)

The first 24 hrs were a bit hit and miss after using iPhones for so long, but as soon as you put that to one side and start to look at how it works, what it can do and the way it integrates everything (flickr / facebook / gmail / twitter etc.) things definitely look up! :)

Had an iphone 2G them a 3G now bought a nokia 5800 for £100 Camera, Video, Internet same as new iphone 3GS only differences is the OS & the huge quantity of App you can get from itunes (that cool for the few first weeks) but for normal used they are not really necessary.

I mostly use it to talk, take pictures, Record some Videos or Sync it with itunes (yes apple I tunes) to download podcast

Everything I've heard about the Storm points to a rubbish UI and a product that was rushed out to compete with a certain other phone ;)

I do like the sound of the Android phones, albeit not those that have had the OS/UI modified by carriers/phone companies, so just the pure Google ones, but I've got so much invested in the iPhone, apps/dock that I think it will take another game changing device to come out for me to change.

shifted to other technology :)

I've got the iphone, Mum had the blackberry, she got rid of it because it was rubbish though.
iphone is definately the way to go, they do everything...:D

No comparison in my opinion. There would have to be something spectacular to get me to change from my iPhone. I think the only reason to have a BB would be if you really need a keyboard or if you get one free from work.

As for Android, it's a great OS and in some ways the open system is a good idea but in the end it will just increase Apples advantage just like with computer systems. The fact that Apple control everything means that they can keep it simple and stable. As more Android phones come out we are already seeing differences in the hardware with some phones running some features and apps and others not. In the end this is not good for the developers because they have to develop for multiple hardware configurations just like with PCs. People complain about the control in Apples's app store but with an open system anyone can make unstable or malicious software.

For photographers the iPhone rocks!! :) It may have a crap camera in comparison with other phones on the market but it more than makes up for it with the multitude of photography apps. Touch to focus/white balance/exposure is genius! How many phone cams have you used that can expose an indoor scene with bright windows? With the iphone you just touch the dark area and it re-exposes for the shadows.

Yes I'm an iphone fanboy (probably being a bit overoptimistic calling myself a boy) but I don't know anyone who has got an iPhone and not wondered how they previously lived without it! :D

Completely agree, love my iphone.
Love my camera ALOT more though :D

Indeed! The headline MP rating seems to be all that people look at, the best phone pictures I've seen have been taken on the 2MP iPhone 3G.

I'm sticking with an iPhone 3GS for at least the next 2 years before I consider jumping ship. Android may just have caught up by then....

iPhone vs Storm? I think you've had your question answered above several times.

My daughter has the iPhone 3Gs, so does my wife and i have a 3G version but due an upgrade to the 3Gs shortly. We all love them - I had a Storm last year it was brilliant - as a paperweight! No contest imo - forget the Storm.

Done!! I-phone it is then!! Thanks to all for the help and advice!!

One more thing. Me, my girlfriend and my father all had 3G iphones with 2 year contracts. After a year we were able to upgrade but had to pay for the new 3Gs phones (£152 for 16Gb and £270 for the 32Gb), however I sold all three 3G phones on ebay for a profit!!! (£330 for 16gb and £300 for 8gb!!)

So anyone out there with an iphone make sure you upgrade to the new one every year because you old one will still be worth a lot!! :)

Oh, and by the way, of course I love my real camera A LOT more :D

I have the Blackberry Storm, would "dump it" today if I had the choice, however contract forbids this.
1) Battery life, sucks, 6 to 8 hours with light use, has been back to Vodafone twice.....
2) Internet so slow it is pants.....
3) limitted applications
4) touch screen is "tacky"

I feel the storm is so poor, when I have had a "basic replacement phone" whilst mine was at repair, again, I did not want to return the replacement phone...10 months of contract to run...................

Ooohhhh it can't be that bad, surely?

If you want a touch screen then the iPhone is the only one worth considering in my opinion.

Hello,
The BlackBerry Storm is an interesting phone and I really like the idea of the haptic keyboard BUT it has no WiFi which in my opinion is a major flaw. Plus there are quite a few bugs in the current phone, but that is common for a new device these days & software updates are fixing them. Hopefully the Storm 2 will be a much more polished device.
