Right, the reason why i have not been on here for so long is because i have had someone come on my MSN account (like add me) and start saying stuff like "I wish you was dead" and all. I was in a state of depression for the time this was going on all because of this. And am still

So, yeah can anyone help me on this?

Like can it really happen?

Have you reported this to MSN?
 
Can it happen that someone can just add you and do this? No, you normaly have to accept their invite request. HOWEVER, there are quite a few viruses out there that use MSN to proliferate.
 
You can block that particular person from being able to have conversations with you.

I think there is a setting where you can block all people unless theyre on your allowed list.

Change your MSN password also - just in case ...
 
yes u can right click and block them also if you go Tools>Options and click on the Privacy tab i put All Others into the block list
 
Block/ignore. If it was someone who was seriously out to get you, they wouldn't be ****ting about on MSN.
 
yes as stated above you can simply block people from contacting.

Or you can fight fire with fire. Spam the hell out of them, nudge them, send files to them to download, email them huge files that clog up their inbox. Dont take it to heart so much, its only the words of some lonely idiot with too much time on his hands. Anything he does to you on msn you can do back to him.

Either block him, or abuse him :D


ooh, you could google search his email address, find out more about him, what forums he visits and registers on, freak him out a bit, register his email adress on spam lists. Sign him up to newsletters. enter him in competitions. Anywhere that says would you like to more information on things, just add his email address.

you know, mature stuff like that hehehe
 
You had to have accepted their offer of adding them to your list of contacts etc... but i suppose this couldve been done inadervertantly while thinking it was one of your friends.

However, block & forget and have a nice Christmas! :thumbs:
 
Unlike yourself, this person doesn't have an interesting life, and would prefer instead to transfer their feelings onto you. What they are saying could be how they are unconsciously feeling about themselves, which they take out on you. If you don't know this person, then they can't mean it personally towards you. What reason would they have if they don't know you.

I know lots of people that get unwanted abuse on MSN though... as Janice says, you must've accepted an invite? I only have people on there that I know.
 
MSN/chatting is the wrong side of the tracks. Always has been. As your situation so clearly demonstrates. If you don't want to be in the wrong part of town, don't go there! But if you do, don't whinge about the circumstances.

I have none of them things up the top of the convosation to do so
I can't see there email address
I didn't accept anyone for ages so it must be an ex-mate of mine

It is **** because i was starting to enjoy coming online again then this had to be brought back up again.

I have been so worried about it this morning i even failed my theory test. FFS

Tools > Options > Privacy

Tick the box that says "Only people on my allow list can see my status and send me messages"
 
That is ticked aswell. I am pritty good with MSN and its functions

So that was all done at first but the barstard keeps getting to me :(
 
Ok, other than the obvious threats being sent have you noticed any inteligable comments coming back to anything you've said in response?

It's possible that someone on your fiends list has a virus that's doing it. Does it only send messages OR have you been sent files (images etc) as well?

Also, are you 100% sure it's MSN messanger and not windows messenger? The latter would look more like pop up windows and there is an exploit that allows people to send messages to you unsolicited.

As previously stated, I'd sign up for a new MSN account and go forwards from there!
 
Techno, Listen mate If it's been going on for some while and nothing has happened to you then theres every chance nothing will. You could always have a word with your local police as this sort of behaviour must be some sort of harrasment and see if they can do any thing.
Secondly I might have misread/understood part of your post,

But if you mean can somebody wish you dead and it will come true, then if they could I dare say the population would be a great deal less than it is now and I probably wouldn't be writing this! SO DONT WORRY!
And if they can wish you dead, I can wish you alive so he wish is now cancelled!

It is a person doing it, I am 100% sure

Because it says : Is writting a message at the bottom of the window

And it is not a pop-up because it is in msn chat. and for it being a bot, I am pritty sure that it is not. Because they talk evan when i sign on like ten minutes after

I don't suppose you have your own website and hosting do you? What you could do is create a unique image, host it on your server and then send the link to them via MSN. IF they click to download it your host will log the IP address which requested the image (assuming you can access such logs). Then go to MSN with the time, date of this and the IP and see what they say....

Other than that, sign up a new account :D

But i would need them to send me a file first.
 
can you block any contacts at all? Or is it just this character that you cant block?

how can you not see his email address? He has to have a visible email address in order to be a contact.

What so even if he really really wished and wished that i was dead it wouldn't happen? Because they said something along the lines of "I really rest at night wishing you was dead" And that got me even more worried.

Keep all logs, do not respond in any way. Report it to the police. They will track them down.

One thing I have learned though wisdom and shear failier it just aint gonna happen
so stop worrying about some low life with nothing better to do than spam you.

Want to stop it? Stop using MSN/that account. If you don't that is your choice. Pull your finger out!
 
In a nutshell if you totally ignore these type people they will get bored and fed up and move on when they get no reaction from you. One reply from you is all they need to keep going, as someone else here said rise above it, ignore the f^&£$r.

Threats to kill are a "serious arrestable offence" as the victim believes them to be genuine and they are having a serious affect on the victims health which could be regarded a GBH {I got one of my arrests into the daily papers once after using this exact arguement to get a production order and locking up a local scumbag for harrassing a local magistrate}

For this reason the police could apply for a production order from a crown court judge for MSN UK to supply the IP address of the numpty sending these notes. Once the IP address has been located it is a VERY easy task then to find the holder of the IP address and then use another production order to get the ISP to release the details of who was allocated that IP address at the time of the alleged offence. This works with both broadband and modem lines. The only problems are - The offender may not be within the UK, the location may be an unregistered mobile phone, the location may be a computer shop/internet cafe/bt internet phone.

ADDED: Oh, just re-read your original post and "I wish you was dead" I not a threat to kill, this does not wipe out the above it just means that the officer would need to use the arguement that the threats were having a serious affect on your health to the level of GBH. That would get the production orders and then the numpty could be charged with harrassment. Its a bit thin though !! I think you need to change your MSN ID or work out how to block this person on messenger. I have come across some trojan software which chucks messages up on the screen looking like they have come from MSN. Is the person sending them on your list?

He can be arrested without any problem for the offence of harrassment.

The complicated thing is trying to find out WHO the person is!
