I need an image blown up to be 3 feet wide. It is a raw image I have but I'm not sure how to blow it up without losing too much quality, I understand the bigger the image the further back you view it from though. What I'm getting at though is, is it just a matter of changing the 'crop size' in camera raw? Or is it best to open the raw up as a CR2 and just do the image size thing?

Confusion reigns, please help.

Thanks,
Brian.

What are the pixel dimensions of the image?

What media do you want it printed onto? (paper, canvas, vinyl, etc)

Most digital printers will recommend 300dpi and you're at 107dpi without doing anything to the image.. I'd have a word with the printer and see what they recommend. They may prefer you to send the image "as is" and do any upscaling themselves as part of the service.

As you already know who is going to print it why not simply ask their advice? That should ensure you get the best possible result.

image size needs to be either 10% of final image size with a resolution of 300dpi or more, or 25%, depending on printng company.

Send the image to Baghdad or Kabul, it would probably get blown up there. I suppose Bogota could be a third option.
