Now I'm not quite sure if this is a *normal* problem or if I should seek professional advice.....

I'm going Snowboarding for a week in a very picturesque area in the Alps & I've got no inclination AT ALL to take my camera.

Is this normal or have I got a problem :cuckoo:

:help:

If it is so that you can fully enjoy the snow antics without the worry of sensitive electronics then HELL YEA its normal.

On the trips I've been on, I didn't have the strength to lift a camera at the end of the day, or the skill to prevent it being smashed to pieces if I carried it with me on the slopes.
It's probably best not taking it TBH.
Plus, we're all bored with snow pics after the recent weather in the UK :p

Everybody has down time with regard to their hobby, it's natural. If you have a compact, take that and stick to candid/action shots of your companions.

The cameras insured for foreign abuse but I'm just a bit bleh at taking it with me.

It could be I've just had too much snow , it's guaranteed that I'll miss it once I'm there :bang:

*the PS will be going for the blackmail shots ;)

Is it a "Lads Trip" then? In which case leave the camera at home, you'll be too fueled up on Desperados to be able to focus properly, and too busy chasing chalet girls to want to :D

Unfortunately No , I'm going with the Brothers in Law + their families. I'll sneak out at night but they'll probably inform the wife if I snuck a snow-bunny into the hot tub

I've just come back from a weeks boarding in Val Thorens, France. I just kept my 450d, 11-16mm and flashgun in my Redsnapper backpack and it survived fine. It was quite cold getting the camera out, so I didn't take that many photos, but sometimes it was worth it ...

At the risk of starting a Canon Vs Nikon debate here, if I had your camera I doubt I'd want to take it with me either.

I like it

Agree with Rob haha

Seriously though, enjoy yourself, don't be left worrying about the camera

Some of the snow looks a little blown out and you've missed the top of the mountain out in the background but this isn't a bad picture. At least you've captured all the twin peaks in the foreground.

Ah, well. I had a friend in South Africa - a highly qualified and intelligent young woman, who was a well paid management consultant - who travelled frequently and refused to own a camera at all. She said it would spoil the memories......

She's wrong, just the other day I was going through old snaps of early holidays and raised a few smiles over things I'd completely forgotten.

I was going to mention pictures of snow bunnies...but it looks like it's been well covered already.

Peace out y'all!

No, I don't think she was wrong, not for herself. For you, yes, for me, probably.
