Hi,

I am sorry if this question has come up before and I am asking the same question as many have asked before me but I require some :help: and advice .

I am very new to DSLR and already have a very scruffy sensor, I have tried a blower and an artic butterfly with no luck at all, where do I go next?

I am unsure whether to send it back to canon for a proper clean or have a go my self with wet wipes (not the type you wash a babys bottom with!!) I am not very confident with such a move and I don't know whether it will invalidate my guarantee if I start having a go myself.

Thanks for your advice:thankyou:

Are you getting dust marks over your images or are you seeing it in the view finder?

If you've already tried the arctic butterfly & blower & it's not had an effect (& you're really not happy with the dust on your sensor) then you're probably looking at a proper "wet" clean to make sure. It really is not as bad as some may make out & as long as you're careful, take your time & follow instructions carefully then I wouldn't hesitate to begin doing it yourself - after all, you don't want to be sending your camera back every time you get dust on the sensor.

I have only just recently cleaned the sensor on my camera & followed Roberts guide (Cheers again Robert ) which you can find here:

Keep us updated
(Edit: Make sure you check with what DF said & make sure it's not just your viewfinder :bonk: )

dont the digital SLRs have automatic sensor cleaning?

dont the digital SLRs have automatic sensor cleaning?

Only the very latest models, although it will no doubt be adopted more and more, but it's still not a complete answer to the problem I'm afraid.

Thanks so much for your advice I will get some photos tomorrow been at work all day today (7.15am to 8.30pm) to try and show you my dust, it seems that the worst of it is at the bottom and I kinda live with that, I was able to clone all the dust marks out of my photos when I went to Yorkshire a few weeks ago.

I am a bit of a perfectionist which is why it is getting on my nerves but, I would sooner live with it than risk knackering my sensor ( I believe we have and expert on sensor knackering on here)

My camera doesn't have in built sensor cleaning its a canon 350D and although I looked at self cleaning cameras it did feature quite low on my list of priorities.

Thanks again Wanda
