I know it's easier. I know its cheaper to print. I know its easier to manipulate.

But am i kidding myself by tihnking that film images are deeper and the colour range is better? I was just flicking through a Magnum book (always a good way to spend 4 or 5 hours) and looking at Steve Mc Curry's photos of Afghanistan. I just can't replicate the tone which they have as much as i have tried. Or am i just not processing/lighting correctly.

How much is a Nikon SLR proper these days>
What do you think? I'm not interested in costs, hassle...just purely the end of the day products.

It's my understanding film does have a wider dynamic range than digital, but look about and there are some absolutely outstanding photographs taken with digital. A new Nikon F6 is about a grand and a half but you could probably pick up an F5 or F4 for a quarter of that price.

My Medium Format 120 Velvia 50 film give me better pictures than my 5D. But my 5D pictures processed in Lightroom or Photoshop and printed are better than my Olympus OM2 35mm film pictures printed 6x4.
