...which is not too bad, I guess, but I haven't been before (have to go for a two day training course) - what interesting things are there to do or see after work hours at this time of year? Or, failing that, anywhere to have a great meal?

I wish it was later in the Spring so I could have a good explore in the evenings, but am restricted to the after dark I think.

Ovenden Moor wind farm is good as is Hardcastle Crags. Good old Victorian mills where ever you go around the Pennines.

Thank you - great pointers but, sadly, I don't think I'll have too much exploration time. Will definitely make a note, though, as we aren't that far away here and may very well go back to the area for more of a look around
