Its just a shame the perp will be drugged up so as not to feel a thing.

It might not solve anything, and nothing will be gained, at least in this case.

But it will make an innocent person get some degree of actual justice and MAY make others think twice before they commit a similar offence.

Do they still cut thieves fingers off in certain parts of the world ?
 
wow.... thats pritty savage but i guess if she feels like she has to do it... personally i would chuck him in a room with some phsycopath serial killer and see what happens...

I don't have a problem with this. If she's happy carrying out the justice prescribed by the country she lives in, then all is good. Nature balances itself out.

I think it should be done in the same way it happened to her to be honest.
 
Should be allowed in the UK same justice dished out for the crime if and only if the victim or family so wishes....crime would fall then

sort of agree but i have a twist on it i think if someone breaks into your house you should be able to do what you want until they escape (sry mean leave) that would make some great TV shows.
 
I cannot really believe that this kind of barbarism is thought to be remotely acceptable. As for wanting similar rules brought in in the UK well that leaves me speechless!

I only discovered this place recently and if the above is the attitude of the people here I don't really think I want to be associated with them.

I think the fact that (presumably) people here are interested in visual arts makes it particularly shocking that there should be such glee in the removal of a mans sight.

Obviously if he is the perpetrator of the crime then he should be punished in a significant fashion, but mutilation can never be a civilised reaction.

tbh my response was quite tame as i feel the people on here seem quite civilsed so didnt want to post what i really wanted. Although i will and it a case of i dont care who breaks into my house and dont care what the law says about what i can do too them but i know for a fact they wont be calling the police to put a complaint in that for sure.
 
Its not legal in this country for a reason, the justice system is not perfect and innocent people will suffer horrendous suffering with no chance of reversal if they were proved innocent at a later date.

Our justice system may not be perfect but I would much rather live here under it. Obviously the described punishment in this case isnt a deterent otherwise it wouldnt have happened in the first place.

In any case self defence in your own home is very different to state sanctioned revenge. I am not convinced that dropping acid into the guys eyes is going to be a cathartic experience for the woman, in fact I can imagine that it will be further damaging to her mental state.

The good news is - you don't have to be convinced!

She seems to be OK with the deal, the justice system over their seems to be OK with it and it is also culturaly acceptable within their society.

As for bringing it over here - maybe if as a society we were a bit less woolly and took a hard line with a few more toerags then our prisons may not be be as ovrecrowded as they are and they would possibly think twice about their actions beforehand.

That's absolutely barbaric!
Of course he wants punishing severely, but this is like something out of the middle ages. I'm not in the slightest bit religious, green or politically correct, but I have to say that this is certainly one instance where two wrongs do not make a right, and it has no place in any society that even remotely thinks of itself as civilised.
 
:shake: Completely pointless. I can understand lashings or something similar, but this is quite barbaric.

Eye for an eye never really works. He should be made to wait on her hand & foot for the rest of his life. Maybe then he will understand what an evil deed he did.

I really think she'll come to regret doing it in later life, I can't imagine a long sentence in an Iranian prison being much fun, he'll probably have an easier life in there if he's blind, i'd sooner he was worked hard with sight than had it easy in prison because he's blind.

I do think she should be allowed in to kick him in the conkers once a week though

he definitley deserves major punishment.
and i'm sure inthe circumstances, i'd probably want to hurt the guy , big style.
but wether my sense of right and wrong would let me. i dont know.
jelster has it about right.
make him wait on her for the rest of his life.
or work to pay for her care.

Providing you get the right 'scumbag' surely...

If you don't have cast iron evidence that the alleged perpetrator is in fact the actual perpetrator I can't think of anything worse than punishments like these. It's the same reason I would never sanction capital punishment...

Also, since when does anything become acceptable so long as it has been done to you first? Why would you ever want to be responsible for making someone else blind... surely that just lowers you to their level.

I used to have two individuals visit the garage every now and then. They damaged 7 cars in one night. Luckily none were customers cars. They had no respect at all for the law and knew that the punishment would be worth the risk.
Until I caught them trying to break into the garage one dark evening. They were grateful for the 3 cars and 6 police officers that turned up 10 minutes later....
They havent been back. That was about 10 years ago.
With regards to this case. If you live in a country that allows this kind of punishment, then you cannot expect anything less than you have done I'm afraid.
As barbaric as it may sound to us.
