Another lens..........but I am in 2 minds on what to get or even if I need another. I mainly do weddings but also like taking photos of the kids and time permitting (wildlife/landscape).

My current lens line-up is-

Nikon 50mm f1.4
Tarmon 17-50 f2.8
Nikon af-s 18-70
Nikon af-s 80-200 f2.8

The lenses that get the most use are the tarmon and the Nikon 80-200, but I feel I need a bit more reach out of the tarmon and the Nikon 18-70 is not fast enough but it has good IQ

I want to keep two lenses in the tarmon/ Nikon 18-70 range as backup but also have the desire for a super wide angle.

I am not sure if I will get the use out of a super wide angle – any wedding tog’s out there and do you use a super wide much.

Or do I sell the Nikon 18-70 and get something like a Tokina 28-80mm or a sigma equivalent; I guess this would become my main lens then.

Next question what lenses do you recommend in the Super wide range, the Sigma 10-20 or the Tokina 12-24 or any others in that price range

Any recommendations on an f2.8 standard zoom

Thanks
Julian

I recently purchased the Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 and it produces really good results on my D300.

Thanks Stevo but it's only an extra 10mm on my tamron I would want a bit more than that.

looking at your sig i notice you have a sig 10-20 how do you rate that

thanks

Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 would fit in nicely. You'll have f2.8 from ultrawide to telephoto that way.

I have a Sigma 10-20mm lens and found it to be very useful at weddings. There are some tight indoor spots where it is the only lens I can use for certain shots. You just need to be careful not to distort the people too much! This gallery has a few shots with the 10-20mm lens: http://www.mikegreenphotography.co.uk/Kirsty and Gareth/k_g.html

How about Sigma's 24-70 f2.8 lens if your Tamron is not long enough. It works well for me.

The 11-16 is only just out so unlikely to find any second hand yet.

The 10-20 comes in handy when, like michael green said, when the space is tight and you need to get the shot, or when you want to get a fun shot. I've only done one wedding so far, but i feel that i got shots that i couldn't of done without the 10-20. Heres some i took with the 10-20 on the day...
