I have some good news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

Wonderful news, Matt . It's great when someone recognised your talents, and I have to say you've really got talents when it comes to your camera.

i know jake, he's genuine so dont be worried its someone trying to rip you off.
but at the same time (i'm sure he wont mind me saying this, and i'm going to point him this way anyway when i see him online) he isnt LAT or Getty, so dont get overly excited. But at the same time he knows a good photographer when he sees one, so well done.

oh and his website is off line as its having a makeover

Congrats Matt  can only echo whats already been said, keep copyright of your own work and don't sign anything! At least in the early days. He doesn't seem like much of an agency, just a one man operation?

Still its a step in the right direction! :D

i know jake from flickr. He's good at ultra slow pans.

He didn't ask me to be in his agency!

I guess I'm not good enough yet  :D

Congratulations Matt...:clap::clap::clap:

I posted one of my pics on another forum the other week and received a PM from a very good photographer on there suggesting that I should give photography a rest for a couple of weeks, and then give it up completley.
:'(:'(:'(

make sure you keep copyright matt.

Will do!

At the moment you can argue that you are not 18 and can't sign a contract without your parents' consent. That'll give you the chance to read what the agency is going to do for you and what you have to do for the agency. I have googled Jake Yorath and he does do motorsport.

Well done, you deserve it - so proceed with caution. You've done the work now get the rewards. Nobody ever got rich by going too slowly; lots of people got poor by going too fast.

I will be cautious. THan you very much Russel!

:) as though we dont know! serious Matt keep up the good work mate. Those mags will be yours for the taking £££££££:)

:D thank you!

and posts awful jokes, hopefully of which we will see far less if he's busy elsewhere

btw, Well done Matt. Tread carefully young man...

Hehe!!

THank you, I will watch my step!

Hey well done ..it must be very flattering and I hope it works for you::

Thank you!

THanks for clearing that up Gary. Oh and the fact you said he reconisges a good photographer when he sees one has made my head go even bigger LOL.
He may not be as good as LAT, yet but there is always the future ;)

congrats hope it goes well

were is this other forum?

THank you. Gary answered below.

I would do, but Matt can't afford my consultancy rate.

Good to see you on the up Matt. Can only repeat what others have said about treading carefully etc. The chap in question seems genuine enough, just keep a good eye on the T&C's. Most of all, enjoy the ride, IF you make a little money from it, then cool, if not, the exposure cant be a bad thing.

Dean:)

Everyone else has given you the sound advice about being wary, but I love the fact that you as you say, have come from starting from scratch two years ago, to receiving recognition!

Well done you!

Well done. As a newcomer to this forum, and having seen lots of your motorsport pics, I was amazed to discover how young you are (and how good your are)!!

I hope everything works out for you - don't forget to keep us posted even when you're rich and famous!!

:clap::clap:

Nothing like a bit of positive support is there...?

Anthony.

great news Matt, well done you. Like you said, big transition in only a year. Says a lot about you, your attitude and your skills behind a lens.

Tread carefully, learn a lot and most of all enjoy :agree:

Jake is a top guy, not sure what the long-term plan is but I know he puts a lot of effort into 'making it' in motorsport photography (that guy knows how to get a press pass!), so there is no reason why this can't build into a proper venture. Whatever happens though, he certainly isn't going to rip you off or anything like that.

Just make sure it is what you want, though. I know that sounds like an odd thing to say, but shooting for fun is a lot different to shooting because you need/have to. I've only been doing this for two seasons as well, and have had several opportunities but decided not to pursue it, in a strange way I love motorsport photography too much (it's my 'escape' from my 9-5) and I'm not keen on turning into a job, if that makes any sense.

well done, Persistence pays off...

Just be carefule when you do join as people have already mentioned

Can I offer some caution here, haha!

I'm just trying to build a base of a few decent photographers to start a small agency because the closed circle of photographers is a hard one to break into.
I have a few useful contacts, and I want to use them to help others because I've been helped by them.

I'm not out to ****** anyone over, or steal copyright or anything. Remember, Matt is still too young to get accredited ;)

Of course, my agency is small; it was 2 (my father was involved, but simply hasn't the time anymore) so yes, at the moment a) my site is down (and with a dodgy logo, not my fault) and b) it is making very little money.

We all have to start somewhere. :)
