I hate next door neighbour Bass!

I just mention it because an aquaintance of mine from another forum was happily running a furniture making buisness out of his garage - then one of his neighbours raised a noise complaint and he was up to his neck in building control, planning, hmrc inspections etc

in your case i suggest the 'no gov , i'm not running a buisness, i just like loud music innit, sorry mate i'll turn it down " approach
 
Personally i find this thread very fish,ist theres no problem with bass whether they are next door or not - if they were pike this would be a different matter :lol:

That's because soundproof tiles and bass traps don't do what you think they do. They are interior treatments to make the room sound better, did you buy cheap foam?

you need to spend money on soundproofing such as heavy plasterboards etc...

Yeah I didn't buy it for others lol I got it to stop sound leakage. No I didn't buy cheap foam was rather expensive.
 
Fail then, as foam don't stop sound leakage.
 
I try to be an annoying neighbough to get revenge for when the woman next door has the house to herself and a new bloke. She tries her best to make the guy feel really good about himself. whats worse she plays robbie williams as well to try and drown out the noise.

We did watch starwars episode 1 quite late once, the pod race was really good through the surround system (mission cinema 7 and a rel Q201e) the whole house was shaking.

Another night the guy accross the road came knocking but next door didn't bother.

I don't do it that often in fact its really rare I watch anything with the surround on and when I do its only on low.

Completely agree...definitely overpriced, and actually not that great for what you're paying for.

I'm a Naim man...at the moment I'm going through a NAIT 1 and audiolab CD player and a set of Monitor Audio silvers...great stuff.

With due respect if I was being bounced around my house at 10.45 at night by a neighbours bass they wouldn't be playing it for very long

They would be more likely to be in need of the help of a Proctologist, especially if I'd had a nice conversation with them previously with regards to keeping my kids up!

Doesn't stop sound leakage though. You can fill a room with traps and it'll do squat to stop sound getting out. Traps are designed to reduce modals problems which manifest as boom but to be honest foam doesn't do much below 100hz - did you get advice before buying or did the nice man in the store tell you it was the best thing to buy?

Never been a fan of BOSE, smoke and mirror marketing for overpriced products. Some do indeed make a lot of noise, but I'm not convinced.
 
I had similar issues with a group of polish residence when living next door in our old flat....Music was on during crazy hours of the morning driving me and my significant other nuts.....we were warned approaching the council can also lead to a paper trail of bad neighbours and needs to be declared on sale of the property.....so I decided to take the matters into my own hands....let’s just say we didn't hear a peep from then after...

I can't help but see the irony in saying that on a public forum :)

To the OP I can really sympathise with you and everyone else who has trouble with thier neighbours, I am lucky now in that I have a nice detached bungalow with my neigbours a fair way away, but many years ago I bought a timber framed semi house, and lets just say I had unbelievable problems with the neigbours and thier continually barking dogs, without going into detail I eventually sorted the problem but understand how stressfull it can be (i'm suprised more nieghbours don't kill each other)
Your first port of call is the landlord or letting agent, if they are a decent agent they will get it stopped straight away.
If that don't work as someone else has said go to the uni they are at, I don't know about where you are but I know localy essex university have a very very strict policy towards any students who cause local neighbours trouble, I believe ending in expulsion from the uni if they don't sort it out.
 
spoken to the bunch of lads previously to turn down the bass, noise level is fine it's the bass which thuds through the walls, floor, air!

always had family live next door, so a bunch of young lads is doing my head in

some of them are young professionals yet they can't understand or sort out their plastic recycling bag, which has been left at the front for weeks and not being taken which i can only guess because there's a few cardboard bits in there.

well it was blasting at 5:30pm until we came home which they turned down and not a thud until 11:10pm!

Going to be moving our little one to a room next to the house next door which is close to the living room, I feel I'll be having to go round each night to ask them to turn the thud down!
 
8:45, why can't they just sit and watch the tv at normal level!

before that trying to get my toddler to sleep, had their friends running in and out shouting.

i hope the owners move back in (wishful thinking)
 
It's been ok-ish
But last thing I want from long day at work with occasional bass especially when with sickie baby

Detached house on the want list!
 
Err, no offence intended but why not tell them rather than posting it on here...? You have my sympathies though, can't stand listening to other people's bass.

bunch of young professionals, which i have mentioned to them previously about the bass. noise is ok, but politely asked them too turn down the bass before. how many times do i need to ask them?

they've moved into a residential family, older area!

well it's a bit of drum and bass tonight, just cranked it up so might be popping over in a bit
 
We used to have problems like that. We saved, moved, and bought a detached house.

If they dont listen, wait till they are sleeping, turn your speakers to the wall and turn on full blast. Make sure your kid is out of house.
 
May want to suggest to them to raise their bass off the floor and slightly away from the wall. My friend had a complaint from his neighbour about his bass, using some wood he raised it about 10 inches off the floor and pulled it about the same distance away from the wall.

Left it a week or so using it the same way he used to, asked his neighbours when he saw them if they had heard his bass and they said they hadnt heard a thing from his flat :thumbs:

ha would love to do that

moving is on the cards, was on the cards before this, but now making me think harder about it

have a little 2 year old with another new arrival due next year, so either way it's not ideal for us or them I imagine; although previous two neighbours said they never heard our little cry etc.

not just the bass, but can hear them run up and down the stairs like big kids, shouting, swearing etc. just a shame as never had this issue for the years before
