So I entered my first monthly competition at my camera club and threw myself off the deep end. Went straight past the beginners section, and entered my 4 prints in the Open section... I was expecting mediocre results at best, as the judges really do tear into the prints, finding the smallest flaws, compositional errors and dust spots!

Ended up with 1st & 3rd place in the Black & White prints section, and a fairly credible 15 & 17 marks out of 20 in the colour.

This was the winning print:

and the 3 others:

It's only the Camera Club, and there's no prizes (apart from a sense of pride), but doing it up against members who have been perfecting the art for 50+ years is what boggles me! Now I've set myself a standard, I'm going to have a nervous breakdown trying to maintain it!!!

Ladies & Germs, this has been a Smug-Mode post!

Well done...........

Fisherfield 1 is a corker.........

 got to love it :D Congratz

Well done!

Lovely images! I particularly like the bottom left one.

No 1 is one of those shots that just cries out for mono and you have captured it so well,I loveb these portraits of old men with "Lived In" faces and this is a little gem.

well done Alasdair
all of them shots are fantastic, love the winner though, as said above, it screams out to be in mono and looks great.

you must be well chuffed.

Chris

How did they make that a winner? The background is clearly out of focus :naughty:

Cracking shot mate! PS isn't that Bepe di Marco from Eastenders at the back :D

If i read the exif data properly you were at 250mm? not that far for getting such a natural looking shot. Did they spot you at all?
