Hi

Julie (wife) bought me a new lens, a Sigma 50-200mm f4-5.6 DC OS HSM, and it came today, had a quick play with it, looks and feels good, OS is great, fast AF, and its ultra silent , well happy, fab value for £100, should been £180,from Jacobs Clicky Linky Eosjohn has one and says its a great lens, I did have a quick with his lens, but then we saw it at that price and went for it, I'll do some test shots and post them tomorrow.

Cheers for the bump. Never caught this yesterday. Hopefully the price is still the same around payday next week and I'll be getting myself this.

It's either a telephoto or a Samyang 8mm fisheye. Not sure which yet.

Thanks for the heads up

Nice lens and super cheap!!!

For the Dark side fans they also have a Nikon fit one too: Link

Let us know how it goes Dave.

I won't be buying anything for a while, cash flow is a bit tight and I only recently got my Tamron 90mm Macro lens... :D

P.S.
Dave "DC" in Sigma terms means for use on cropped sensors only.

I am having to fight the urge to get that. Would be a prefect replacement for my Tamron 55-200 as it would AF on the other half's D40x and has OS but I don't have £100 (well ~£50 if I sell the Tamron) spare :(

Does anybody know how this will compare to the Nikkor 55-200mm VR lens?! At this price, I too am seriously tempted as a zoom lens for my second/take anywhere D3000! I've hear/read that the Sigma is better built (metal mounting) and feels more solid than the Nikon....? The Nikkor can be had for ~£142 delivered from Tesco Direct atm.

Edit; Just saw that Dave has a Canon body! But any valid input would be welcome :)

Cheers Dave, I saw one in the flesh this morning on my way to work on a D3100 body. I just wanted peoples opinions on the IQ of this lens compared to say the Canon/Nikon equivalents....

It's like my posts are in Japanese or something!

I put a link to the Nikon mount lens in my original post...

Ditto.

If you read what I wrote earlier;

I'm not after a link to the actual item, I wanted peoples opinions ;)
