I got a little carried away at Focus today

Hey I'll take your 350d battery grip and batteries off of you..... Congratulations on your new buy! I'm sooo jealous. But I think a set of studio lights is in the cards before a camera upgrade.

Not the DIY store thread I was expecting Matt but congrats on your purchase  - Sue is lucky to have a man like you :D - I would never have told my missus (still plucking up the courage to tell her about my D200 purchase in September :embarrassed:)
Paul aka Bobby D ;)

LOL paul.

Didn't all of the focus shops shut down?

Still not decided if I'm keeping the 350 yet - I think I might do, I'll think about it this week and maybe decide after the weekend when I've had a chance to use them both.

Ordered two packs of those 7 day shop batteries so they should be with me before too long, another optech strap so I should be good to go :)

Got to get ready for work now, making a presentation to Senior Management asking them if its okay to spend £90k :D

I've clocked 1500 shots on my 20D before the batterys ran flat :)

Although that is using manual lenses, I can get about 800-1000 shots normally without any bother out of a full charge. At the Galway rally I got around 600 from a charge (thats with the temps in the minus at times).

Battery didn't charge until late last night.

I might try and set something up in the light tent when I get home from work. Waiting for my grip to arrive before I even attempt to use the 100-400 on it ;)

You people all have far too much money to be buying all these toys  I'm still using my 300D! I've had it 3yrs or so now :)
Absolutely nothing wrong with the 300D whatsoever. I loved mine to bits and took some cracking shots with it. I only upgraded to the 30D as a treat for getting a new job and large payrise. It was a "because I can" thing really. It's SO much faster and I love the large screen etc., but the images aren't noticibly any sharper etc. than the 300D. I don't regret it though :) Just need to use it a bit more.

Bought a house in November and have been knee-deep in emulsion since then, so not too much time for photography. Stocking up the garden to attract all the bugs for spring/summer though ;)

30D...I've always wanted to be that...Oh, have I got it wrong, bit like chinese whispers these threads! :)

Cheers mate, but Amazon are already packing mine up, think I'd rather pay the extra £20 for an official canon one too, just in case I guess :)

Its a good price though.

Kandy, Kandy, Kandy - I'm on smut overload right now and my brain wont function well enough for a witty rejoinder.

Matt C - excellent choice my friend :) Guess having to put up with Matty's msn avatar drove you into the arms of the faithful Canon. Look forward to seeing some shots now

Yeah it was a comfort purchase, my sweet, sweet xbox is in heaven. Or at least it should be in the back of a UPS van fairly soon.

Congrats, Matt! :)

Welcome back Kate! We missed you! :)

Hmmmm he didnt have much choice to tell me I might have noticed as I used the same type of camera as him and am often around when he is using it, so might have noticed the different noise and bigger screen etc.

oh bloody hell don't start with comments like that again you'll have them saying I sleep on the couch.

Welcome back Kate! We missed you! :)
Awww thanks :) It has been a while... too long really. I really do need to take time out from decorating to do some photography. I have lots of wall space to fill afterall!!

Went to Focus on Imaging today with my Dad and got inspired all over again. Think I need to set myself some project work to get myself back in the zone. I feel completely detached from the whole scene.

Bought this today (it should be matt but it's covered in protective film hence the shiny effect). Going to pay a visit to my local nature reserve and see if I can come up with some fresh monochromes to fill it with :)

Did they let you spend the 90K Matt?

Matt does not sleep on the sofa, he takes over our kingsized bed ;)

Its looking hopeful Steve, although I did go in and tell them that it was the only viable option after months of research.

:) No I arent getting nasty. We share the bed and when I am nights as I have been we both get used to having the bed to ourselves then we have to share again

At the end of the day we are both very happy together, we have money to treat ourselves no other commitments at the moment so might as well spend our money, cant take it with us if anything happens. I buy what I want when I want and you do the same joking aside. Enjoy the 30D.

cool

I just thought you'd bought your new baby.

I've told her she can use it whenever she wants to ;)

Should get the grip and the optech strap today though so that'll make life easier.

Which Optech you gone for Matt, I was wanted to look at them on Sunday but after I bought my bag, I couldnt be doing with fighting through on the Jacobs stand again.
I need something to relieve the weight of my 5D, Im getting neck muscles a bodybuilder would be proud of!
