I finally got my website up and running...

That is actually really nice! Have you designed it from scratch?

the only slight crit is that the font is a tad small, the headers are fine but the "main text"
I think could with upping a size or two
 
couple of things: There's no obvious navigation when viewing a photo full size. And... Why have a live.co.uk email address when you have your own domain?

Yes I did, everything was done in photoshop.

I can have my own domain email but how much will it cost?
 
looks good, the only thing i can see is your site is .com but at the bottom of the page you have .co.uk , or do you have another site?

Looking good - a few additional (and hopefully helpful :thumbs:) comments in addition to the others if that's ok?

It looks like the text on the home page is made from an image rather than pure text - this makes life difficult for the google search engine "spiders" to gather info about your site and rank it in terms of usefulness to googlers (if that's the right word). (lookup google pagerank for more info if interested)
You would also benefit from a meaning page title that the spiders can pick up on - this is the text that appears in the top bar of the browser. Matching website page title, index page text and domain name help you score highly.

Ah thanks alot, I will work on that, I only got the website up like literally 2 hours ago, i think it's better that people tell me what they think now, i like to know what the public would like to see on my website. Posting the link here is a great help.

It's an amazing feeling :p
 
All looks great.

In the contact page I would leave people to email me rather than pick up a phone and start calling unless you want people to call you :)

Depends on your host. Mine costs nothing as it's all part ofthe hosting package. I would check with your host and see what they offer. you might be pleasantly surprised :)

There are so many errors, i can't believe i didn't notice these before hosting. Gosh... i feel stupid!

:eek: That's worrying! :lol: You know it's not what you have, it's how you use it. You seem to use yours rather well :) And if you want to get really jealous just check out canon bob's camera bag... It's enough to make you :puke:
 
It looks great but is ultimately useless because none of the text is text, every page is just a sliced up image. Even the images on each page is sliced up.... It looks like you made a design in Photoshop and then used Imageready to slice it up into tables and an exported HTML file.

The way this site is built is going to be a nightmare for you to keep updated regularly.

A search on Google for 'salma ali photography' and 'salmaaliphotography' doesn't bring up your site and that is worrying considering that's your domain name. All I see is your facebook and this thread.

This is not good. I might sound harsh, but it's true. It's a shame because it doesn't do your photography justice.

You need to get some text on your site, real text that is indexible by search engines. You also need to read up on CSS and Divs... small learning curve but worth reading up on, get yourself a nice html and CSS book. This one is right up your street.

I'd love to offer more advice, but to be honest I think a good book will do you more good in the long run.

Without sounding patronizing, I'm actually quite surprised and disappointed by some of the comments you've received in this thread. oldestswinger is the only other one that said something that would improve your site, though I know everyone else meant well.

Bit late but... Wholeheartedly agree with KayJay, sliced websites are the devil! It does look nice, but it's not a good way to be going about things.

It also jumps around between pages which is HUGELY annoying, but doing it in HTML should sort that. I'm not gonna offer to help though 'cos I'm rubbish at web design!
 
I don't want to get someone to make it for me, I can do it myself whether it's like this or something else a website is a website and personally I think mine's clean I just have to sort a few things out :)
 
Speaking as a numpty who knows nothing about web design, I have spent the last 15 mins going through the website [twice]

and I think its great.

Some excellent portraits as well.

If you do the couple of tweaks that you wanna do it will be just the job.

Yeah definitely, I wouldn't pay/favour someone to do it for me because I think I can do it myself and if there's something I don't know I end up finding information and learning up about then manage to make a website/graphics how I want. I started graphic design 7 years ago in my kitchen with my old crappy pc and from there I was interested in web and graphic design so I know the important bits and bots there are just a few tiny things I have to learn :D
 
Yeah I agree, hopefully soon i'll have it sorted! It's sort of a learning point for me too, I could ask someone else to fix it but I want to learn how to do it myself.

just thought id agree design wise it looks quite good for a portfolio
and as already mentioned - text instead of as image would be good
