Ok was at work last night and i need a new entonox cylinder for a patient who was in a lot of pain. So using the call a porter system i asked them to come change it. A few mins later i get a call from the porters.

sorry can't change the cylider untill 7am as an MP whos house backs onto hospital ground took out an injunction becasue he didn't like the noise.

so a 15 year old lad is supposed to sit in agony all night so an MP can get some sleep WTF??

no doubt if said MP was in the same position any amount of noise would be made to ease his pain! grrrr

they really do need to remember they are servants of the people not vice versa

i know it has really wound me up tbh.

Luckly we manged to get some for the kid but it drives me crazy that they got htis approved my a judge

Maybe the problem isn't the complainant, MP or otherwise, but the storage location and the noisy porters.

Anonymous Name and Shame to the local papers as MP's at the moment aren't very popular.

+one from me too, that's disgusting. I take it the hospital was there long before the over-paid, under-worked social slime moved in? Maybe the hospital should seek an injunction against him, ordering against the use of his car, TV, lights etc, and anything else that may disrupt your patients?

WTF indeed I'm also with the "anonymous tip off" to the papers

:plusone: for the paper tip off. Thats just horrid. Its a bloody hospital, you cant not expect noise. Grrrr

The house I lived in before was the direct route for lorries to go to the wharf. Got lorries going past at silly times. You cant not just tell them to stop doing something if its there job. Makes me mad!!

Well the storage of cyliners is strictly restricted and monitored and tbh its impossible to move cylinders about with out making noise. Its only accessed when needed and i bet its not even every night or once a week. Its not often you need a cylinder in the middle of the night.

Would love to but i have no idea who it is :(

The hospital is Pre NHS and I am very sure its been there longer than the MP has been alive.

What really gets me is if this was joe public complaining then they would get laughed at.

You want me to pop round and 'ave a word? :bat:

That is terrible!

Toothie, maybe you can ask around the staff to see if they know?

Well i had to google entonox cylinder to find out what it was, how big was it? looking at the one google found its only 10kg, i carry 10kg bottles of gas at work, i cannot figure how getting one of them from a store could possible cause that much noise. Sounds like an ignorant ar who needs a pasting then denyed pain killers

Just give the papers the story they will do all the digging.

I agree, publicise it! I'm sure the local papers would love this.
MP's are there to represent us, NOT to rule us, and it's about time they realised this.

Phone him up at 3am to ask if it's all right to change the cylinder as a patient is in real pain and can't wait till 7am.

hmmm, arn't injunctions by order of the court and supposed to be in the public interest? Me thinks there may be a part of the story missing here.

Give the story to the local television station for their 'and finally' story on the evening news. Let the voters in the constituency decide for themselves whether the "honourable Member" is right or wrong.

We have the big cylinders and the noise comes from putting them on there trollys, so they can be easliy wheeled about by staff and patients am sure there more than 10kg

As for the shop him suggestion i will ask around at work and see what people know.

Oh yes the papers would make a great story out of this, especially the tabloids, but I doubt they would tell the real story.

An injunction was applied for in court and granted, do you honestly think it would have been granted if the hospital authorities had claimed in their defence it would cause suffering to patients.
We are all entitled to peace and quiet be it noise or light pollution or both and the MP in question in my opinion was probably only doing what anyone else would have done in the circumstances.

Perhaps so, but can you honestly tell me that an MP would be treated the same by a court as any regular citizen, because I don't believe that for one minute.

Perhaps not in other instances but in this instance the post has encouraged cries of horror directed towards the MP for supposedly being selfish and causing suffering to patients which I believe is unjustified.
