I dropped my nifty fifty in a church earlier...the entire front element came out:

Judging the price of the 50mm 1.8s, it'd probably be cheaper to get a new one
 
Ouch, though I suppose you can be thankful it wasn't your 70-200 f2.8. Good luck getting it repaired.

I don't really use it alot to be honest, so I doubt i'l even replace it at the moment :D

Yeah I would be sooo upset if it was my 70-200...although it would probably be fine if I dropped it as it's built like a tank.
 
The 70-200 probably would be have survived :D

Shame it's a goner, but you know what they say....you don't know what you had til its gone! :p

Thankfully its a cheap one should you ant to replace it! :)
 
Been there, done that - unfortunately lens was a bit more expensive :'(

Probably best to just get a new one. You may even get ten squids on an auction site for the wreckage - better than nothing and a form of recycling too :thumbs:
 
Put it on ebay for 99p no reserve, I bet it makes £20+

I was watching a sigma 150mm macro that had focusing problems, it made £200 I was gobsmacked, mint ones only make £270
 
Ideal opportunity to dismantle it and show the web what lenses are made of, great macro project :)
 
Oops. At least its only about £70 for a new one not £X00 for one of your L's
 
You need to make something out of it - looks like it would make a nice ashtray if you're a smoker...

possibly a candle holder...

Should start a new thread about what people have made from old camera parts :) I went through a stage of trashing bike components and making stuff out of the old parts....
 
Wack 's got the right idea,put it on e-bay .....the items that are spares or repairs seem to make the most money.At least that way you'll get something for your lens
 
Check and see if your home and content insurance covers it. No harm shooting in the dark. You never know................ :D
 
Now you have a reason to get the 50 1.4
