of the confectionery companies shrinking our beloved chocolate treats. I swear they shaved at least an inch off the Mars bar! Disgraceful!! Just Wikipedia the kinds of chocolate bars they have over in Austrailia - they're bigger and better than ever... Can you tell I don't have much to do in work? :exit:

Lindor boxes are barely half full.

Mind you, they were reduced to £2.50 in ASDA yesterday:banana:

I read somewhere that they are apparently doing this for our "own good"
Thereby reducing the amount of chocolate we consume.
Thanks Cadbury's et al I'm sure we appreciate the thought

I read the same a while ago, still doesn't explain why the price hasn't been reduced by the same 25% (or at all for that matter) :(

While doing our bit to keep the economy afloat?

Probably a combination of the 2 factors. TBH, I don't eat nearly as much as I used to (of chocolate!) and can now restrict myself to just one or 2 Minstrels rather than the bag I could easily consume at a single sitting. When I was ill but before the Diabetes diagnosis, I would buy secret stashes of chocolate and steadily munch through waaaaaaay too much. These days, I can sit with a small piece of chocolate slowly melting in my mouth for ages...

Nothing worse than a reformed chocoholic!

And I thought it was my mouth that has got bigger with age.

LOL Ian.
Although I guess its just that we seem to have less control over it, the older we get ;)

Not reformed, I still love the stuff but can now enjoy it in moderation! TBH, I was quite surprised that I didn't nip the 10' or so to the chocolate drawer to get myself a Lindor ball an hour or so ago!

Ooh Nod you should know you should never ask a lady to reveal an age, ok so that don't apply to me but .........................................;)

I work for a supermarket and I can tell you that recently they sold off all remaining stock of a certain size of Mars bar for 25p each. Reason for this was because they were shrinking the size where they would then, sell them again for the 52p that the larger size was.

Ah it all makes sense now, I did see Mars bars on special offer at "my local" supermarket.
But I never really took a lot of notice, I assumed they were overstocked and getting close to the date code. ;)

Really? I thought they were just as bad for it over here as at home.

Not that it bothers me too much, one less reason to consume the chemical ****storm that passes for 'chocolate' these days.

Mars changes their ingredients years ago, yulk, they taste like molasses nowadays

Can't see which dealer does Frys Chocolate cream? ... its just so hard to get the fix I need.

I think Fry's were a Cadbury's brand and they're now under the Kraft banner.

Haven't had a genuine Mars bar for ages - being a cheapskate, I tend to buy the mini equivalents from Lidl which satisfy the craving without screwing too much with the blood sugars!

Think yourself lucky - we've just got back from Thailand where the Mars Bars were not much bigger then the fun sized ones!!:)

Oh the trials and tribulations of the jet setting crowd :p
:D

Bar of choccy 30p at Morrisons or Asda, cheap as chips ? meanwhile Eddy its nearly Spring so you will be able to get out more. :)

Apparently they're "committed to reducing the portion size to under 250 Kcals".
I buy Lidl copies, they taste just the same but are bigger and much cheaper. ;)

Oh I'm glad I'm not the only person who noticed this. I remember quite liking them then all of a sudden they just weren't as good.

Sorry but to call the c*ap that is sold as "chocolate" here as being special is sad. Anything sold with 20% cocoa solids is not chocolate. 30%+ cocoa solids and the rush is there. So enjoy your 'vegelate' but try a Lindt 70% or the very brittle 81% and get the real buzz of chocolate.....

Mars for not make a single worthwhile product and Kraft are destroying the Cadbury brand by the rule of 'bland'

Nestle???? Do me a favour.

Steve
