So i have just had confirmation that on April 6th i am fighting on fight UK 7 in Leicester. Its a really big show and one of the best organisations in uk mma. I also have a tough opponent so its going to be a war. Anyone fancy a night watching some exiting fights i think tickets are about £30 and for that you get to watch me getting punched in the face :naughty:

Good luck matey. What is your discipline of choice?

I fight MMA. I guess i am from a Thai background but really train all areas these days. I have a pretty solid wrestling game and very heavy hands. My opponent is also very good all round and not afraid to stand and box so expect a war.

So £30 and for that you get to watch me getting punched in the face :naughty:

worth every penny

but couldnt we see that for nothing at the TP convention :naughty:

on a serious note do you know what the score is with taking cameras in ?

so you will have a strict training regime in place then :gag: and I suppose you have to watch your diet etc..or is it not that kinda fight ?? good luck  If you have a link so I can keep tabs I would be interested maybe be worth doing a thread on your build up etc

the usual build up for a fight in leicester is 7 pints of lager and a curry

My name should be on that list very soon.

Yes i have a bit of weight to cut. I fight at 77kg. Was 83kg this morning so a pretty easy cut really. Traning is going to be hard and diet is going to be boring.

I am sure a few people on here would pay much more. Most shows are ok with taking cameras in. The venue has a great balcony to shoot right into the cage.

is it televised?

It will be Online PPV

I'll be there, need to check your'e not fighting a Lesta lad before I side with you :rules::D

tis a great venue aswell..

lol as its leicester the usual fighting rules will apply

a) all participants will neck several pints of strong lager before the event kicks off , curry is optional

b) instead of a starting bell, both fighters will recite the fighting mantra " you looking at my bird" "no" "why not int she worth looking at"

c) If the fighters are of different races they will also be free to add " do you want some you [insert racial ephiphet] basterd "

d) at the end of each round the fighters will be seperated by 4 swarthy policemen armed with batons and CS gas - these officials can expect to be attacked by the spectating crowd with bricks and bottles

e) The winner will be expected to flee the scene in an unlicenced and uninsured corsa with as much badly affixed body kit as possible

f) there is no prize fund but the winner can feel free to try and loot the reception booth on the way out

Good luck in your fight. I get along to spectate at a few MMA fights up in Scotland, I was at the On Top 4 show a few weeks back. Do you train Brazilian jiu-jitsu?

Yes mate i do. I have trained a bit of Gi at a gracie barra gym. Now i only train no go bjj and submission wrestling. My strength is really my striking and wrestling but i am pretty confident on the ground if it goes there and happy to throw a few subs in he mix.

Hope you come out of it with a result mate.

You're a braver man than me stepping into a cage to fight. I've experienced a kimura and armbar just in a bit of light rolling and it is no fun! Do you ever get along to any seminars? My mate is really into this and attends seminars by people like Wanderlei Silva and Royce Gracie, costs a pretty penny though. I'm quite into Pride (Japanese MMA company which you probably knew) too, got to say I like watching Mirko Cro Cop strut his stuff.

Haha yep it can hurt when you get twisted up. I dont ever do paid seminars but thats becasue i have been very lucky to have trained (and train full time ) with some of the best fighters in the world anyway. I spent a month in camp with Royce Gracie and some time with John Fitch who at the time was training for his fight against GSP. Aso my coach Danny Batten and main Training partner Fraser Opie and Joe deeny are top level guys all with top 5 rankings in the uk now. I am a lucky boy when it comes to my training camp. These guys beat the hell out of me so much its nothing when i get in the cage at a semi pro level.

I love a bit of pride mate such a shame its gone. Not that i would ever want to compete with headstops that stuff is dangerous. Also fighting in a ring has some serious dangers for mma so that left for some crazy fights. Cro cop in his day was amazing and that mans left leg has to be the best in the world to this day, just a shame he is past it a bit now. And with such all rounders in the sport now like Jon Jones these guys cant keep up.

To true Andy, I found half the fight was in believing in yourself.
Go for it mate.

Agreed. The hardest part is always getting in there. It dont matter who you are when you get in the ring or cage and see your opponent ready to smash your face in you are bricking it. Key is to not let that overwhelm you.

Its a great sport to watch hey. I dont really lift to often really, i do alot of kettle bells and i squat and do some Olympic lifts but no body building stuff as its not good for fighting. All my training is designed to be explosive so lots of body weight exercise, sprint training, drils and sparing most days. I have wrestling later today with a 19 stone wrestling partner.. If i can stop him taking me down i can stop anyone.

huh? you never said you were a fighter!

***Joe quickly scans back through his posts to check if he's ever ruffled Andy's feathers***

There's a good chance he will have done at some point

Joe ruffles my feathers at every opportunity he gets. For some reason i dont have any urge to inflict any form of pain on him . Sometimes the most annoying are actually the most likable.

do you think he can take a punch better than the average guy ?

I can take a punch much better than an average guy. I just finished 9 rounds being hit by a 90kg athlete with 4z gloves on. However, anyone can get KOed all it takes is to land on the right spot.

yeah last time I was KOed it was by a falling tree

good luck with the brawl- hope you come out looking better than the other fella!!! hopefully photos of the event will follow???

Well training is going great anyway. Did 12 3 min rounds sparing today with a top training partner. Good times.

But how about if there was an organised and chargeable TP meet? You and Joe in a cage and the rest of us taking photos.

You could have half the takings and Joe could have something like a 7 Day Shop 4GB SD card as compensation! Surely that would encourage you to inflict a little bit of pain on him?

Thats been suggested before - though personally i don't see why andy should get all the fun - what about a TP free for all settling of differences mano et mano , paring down to a final two (probably andy and tony)
